Probably won't with T-Dumb in charge.

Let me start this off by asking you, the reader a few questions – how many times now has the Dolphins been crowned winners of the offseason by making that “big splash” free agent signing (WR Mike Wallace, DT Ndamukong Suh, and even QB Jay Cutler) Or making that big offseason trade (CB Byron Maxwell and LB Kiko Alonso?) Or how about making a big trade up in the draft (with the Raiders in 2013 for DE Dion Jordan?) And now answer this, how many times has that paid off? How many times has been stupidly aggressive paid off for our Miami Dolphins? Not one time and no, two one and done playoff appearances in between 8 years doesn’t count. I’ve seen plenty of Dolfans on the Twitterverse and on the DolphinsTalk.com comments section state they want Miami to release Suh, Tannehill, and Mike Pouncey (easier said than done) and then make the “big free agent splash” by signing Kirk Cousins and following up with trading up in the draft and selecting one of the top quarterbacks, talk about being stupidly aggressive. Let’s be honest, the people who want this, are the same people who want Mike Tannenbaum fired but would praise him if he made such a move - only to demand he’d be fired again in three years’ time when these moves backfired as they usually do.
It’s time for the Miami Dolphins fans and their front office, no matter who’s running it, to stop being stupidly aggressive and start being smart.

One can only assume t-bomb is stiffer than the upcoming SpaceX rocket, salivating at the upcoming draft and Landry issue. He seems to get off on making a big splash in the press which turns out to be a submersion for us. Can't wait to see what happens or maybe I can.

Is his splash paying the Franchise tag this year?

I don't think they want Landry and that was done to trade. I would fall off a chair if Landry remains the team. If no takers I suspect a long term deal as plan B but i really think they don't want him.

I think you are right. Personally, I am in the “keep him” camp. Do you think it’s him as a person they don’t want (hot head) or they believe he’s replaceable?

I think Gase doesn't like something about him, pure speculation on my part, but i also believe they think he can be replaced cheaper. I have heard of no offers or communication that they want him, even at 12m so that tells me they are willing to move on but are trying to get more than the comp pick...commendable to do that.

We shouldn't confuse "big splashes" with smart moves.
You have 3 premium picks- 11,42,73.
These picks must translate into starters / contributors.

Address the glaring holes at interior OL, LB, TE through the draft and FA.
We have our core of star type players:
Suh Jones Wake Landry
We need our young players to take next step:
Howard Tank Drake Phillips Davis DVP
Infuse couple of smart vets:
Pugh LG - Anderson RB - Brigham LB

Everyone can be replaced and they're not going to find a guy that will catch 100 passes but that's not what the team needs. The team needs to score more but getting more chunk yards and getting more players involved. You can have Landry at his price or you can use the money wisely(for a change)and get a whole offense to do better

Ozzy rules!!

all 4 of these guys could be gone by next year

I agree. Landry's probably gone this year and you never know with Wake. If they draft a real FS this year then Jones could be gone and Suh due to his horrible contract is on his way out too at some point

I don't like this philosophy we seem to be following of drafting and developing players then letting them walk when they get too expensive. How can you build through the draft this way? I know NE gets away with it but that's because Brady hides their warts, we don't have Brady. Think about it, if they won the SB last year that was all Brady. Do you think if maybe they had splurged for Chandler Jones (who led the league in sacks) or Jamie Collins or both maybe they wouldn't have given up 41 points to a backup QB and been able to win that game? When Brady leaves we'll see this philosophy will fall flat on it's face for them too.

It's a 2 year league - you make a run 2018 & 2019 and continue stacking talent. This is my point on not making big splashes.
2019- about 20 mill dead money comes off the books.
2019- you know what you have in RT17.

I'm guessing you meant Stupidly Aggressive, not Aggressively Stupid, although the latter is what Tannenbaum has been his entire career.

Right now, as I see it, if our defense and the so-called wide 9 is designed to only really be effective when we have a lead, then Gase is going to want to shore up our offense, especially our red zone rushing attack. Looking at pro-football-reference.com I see that we only scored 4 rushing TD's last year. Yep, if you were thinking that is dead last in the league, you are correct. Conversely, the team that had the most rushing TD's was the Saints at 23 TD's, the next closest was the Jaguars, Cowboys, and Titans with 18 TDs. The average was 12 TDs.

Passing was a little better and we finished in the middle of the pack with 24 TDs. The average was 23 TDs. The top team, Eagles, had 38 passing TDs! The worst team, Bears, had 13 TDs.

I think with Tannehill coming back we should see an all around improvement with our offense, but he will need time to shake off the rust. It could be a smoke screen, but there might be some truth to why we are looking at a back like Guise. His comparable is Marshawn Lynch.
