Tannehill is not in the same class as the quarterbacks above, except Smith. But his ability to avoid mistakes is laudable. He's never come close to a collapse like Colin Kaepernick or RGIII, with 51 touchdowns and 24 interceptions over the last two seasons. While Tannehill's career has been frustrating, he's been a lot better than, say, Sam Bradford.
Tannehill has started every game in his career and his stats are league average or better the last two years. He has shown anticipation throwing the ball before his receivers break on routes, something Jay Cutler still never shows. After a disastrous September last season, Tannehill was mostly solid down the stretch. He shows veteran ability in going through his reads. Maybe that doesn't get Dolphins fans out of bed excited in the morning, but there remains real upside here.

This is the year we find out what Tanny is made of

If he doesn't turn the corner this year, I say we cut our losses. I'm tired of hearing about his potential, I want to see results.

All I wanna see is wins. No matter what way they achieve those wins. Through being a great defense with an elite running game. Tannehill doesn't have to do much as long as we win I'll be fine with that.

Winning cures every thing.

I've always had the mindset that you don't cut bait with a QB unless you have something better in the plans with the exception of a total rebuild.

I was reading this this morning. Takes a shot or two, but pretty good assessment I think If you read the whole thing.

My hope is that he plays so well this year, the argument can be made for Tannehill being the reason he plays so well. But I'll take lots of wins and "system qb" reputation.

This year we have a brutal schedule, but still....gotta have those wins tanny.

Always liked him, regardless of the trash heaped upon him by some on this forum. For the Tannehill naysayers, just who are you going to replace him with at this point? It's not like the next Marino or Brady are lingering on the waiver wire.

yea but we catch the tom bradyless patriots early in the season so that's a significant boost in our race to gobble up division wins

Saw this from realfootballnetwork which is Pat Kirwins new site I believe.

Offensive Philosophy – We’re going to find out a lot about Ryan Tannehill this season. New HC Adam Gase will likely employ a lot of principles of the offense he used in Denver and Chicago, and that puts a LOT of responsibility on the QB. This is a shotgun formation, no huddle attack, and Tannehill will be asked to call protections, switch OL blocking schemes between man and zone, master a wide array of personnel groupings and formations, call out motion, and make audible calls at the line, as well as sight adjust on the fly. He’ll also have to be more accurate as the system calls for more screens and check downs and precise routes based on timing. They will have to run the ball better in order to develop the play action game that Gase likes, but make no mistake, this offense goes as the QB goes (as much mentally as physically), and that means Tannehill has GOT to be better in 2016.

So is it a shotgun offense or not? How do you execute play action out of the shotgun? You have to be more accurate to execute screens and check downs? Who writes this crap?

Defensive Philosophy – New coordinator Vance Joseph has worked his way up the coaching ranks and is a product of the Wade Phillips/Mike Zimmer coaching tree. Like his mentors, he favors an aggressive, attacking defense, utilizing a four-man front and tight man coverage on the back end. Dolphins fans will see a lot of different sub packages as well, but Joseph is not as eager to blitz as Phillips, and ideally would like to get pressure with his formidable front four, allowing him to create more varied looks in the secondary. But keep an eye out for how he handles various game situations early on. He won’t be afraid to send extra pressure if he has to. This is an aggressive defense that the players should embrace.

Man coverage? I thought the whole point of bringing in these new corners was due to the idea that we are a base zone coverage. I realize they are pressing at the line but that does not always equal man coverage.

Tannehill is not and has not even remotely been the issue with this team. Put a decent line around him that can stay healthy and defense that doesn't collapse and we will have something.

He will probably struggle this year and everyone will manage to blame Adam Gase's playcalling.

I don't expect Tannehill to master this offense right out the gate, but as the season goes on, I expect him to get better. IF ANYONE ON THIS SITE EXPECT HIM TO BE PERFECT OUT OF THE BOX, you're being unrealistic, year 2 in this system will be a better sign of his abilities.

More likely, he will probably play well and the same people that have been dogging him from the start will nit-pick every performance and refuse to give any credit to Tannehill.

Fine, get rid of Ryan Tannehill. Who are you replacing him with? Do you want to be in a contract stand off with a journey man QB like the Jets are? Would you like to sign Sanchez like the Broncos? Would you like to give a ton of money to an unknown QB who had a dominate D like the Texans? Would you just like to tank the season for the slight possibility you could draft a high QB that might only be going high because people get off on QBs? Please.
