The case for Vince Young

2009 - Led 0-6 team to an 8-2 finish after Adams forced Fisher to name him starter, ranked 6th in the NFL in Total QBR, led epic 99-yard drive to beat Cardinals, made Pro Bowl

Brett Favre made the Pro Bowl over Pennington in 2008. Shows how much their bodies of work during the season really mean.

2010 - best passer rating of career - 98.6 - ranked 5th in NFL before he went on IR after Week 11, 3-1 in games he started and finished, team finished 1-5 after Fisher ousted him following their locker room exchange

Yawn.

2011 - 2 good games, one bad; consider he was coming off the bench for a new team (with a 3-6 record) and new system but played well vs both of the teams now in the Super Bowl

Again, doesn't show a whole lot. Limited sample size, he's like AJ Feeley with a worse attitude.

Instantly went from title thread to 1 star rating. No need to even read the reasons, because simply, the guy is an idiot and we don't need him on this team.

That was a totally weak response. Essentially all you could come up with is to negate the Pro Bowl (VY made it twice, BTW)

Not much counterargument to the points I made.

6 pages? Stop feeding the trolls please. This guy has started 2 threads. Wanna guess what they were both about?

What else do you hang your hat on? The sudden drop off of UT athletics? The one crystal football in 50+ years? Roger Clemens having idol worship?Earl Campbell was pretty awesome, and so was Ricky. Other than that, I can't think of much.
So its about how many pros we produce? If earl and Ricky are the only ones you can think of then maybe you just don't know enough about UT athletics. There's a drop off in UT athletics yet we were the 4th seed in the tourney last year, were in the National championship a few years back and won the national championship 6 years ago. baseball world series last yeark?

You dont think its odd that he didnt get a single starting job last year? This league values QB talent over all else and if you have been a starter for years and cant find a job after youre cut, you just arent good.

Your argument was weak. Essentially he got the shaft unfairly. If the dude could play, he'd be starting for the NFL's version of the Clippers at the very least, but he's riding the pine, and probably will be at Whataburger flipping some mouseburgers and french flies this time next month. He'd at least be starting for the Raiders, or at least on their roster. The fact they haven't taken a chance on him at any point after his exodus from Tennessee shows a lot.

Not much counterargument to the points I made.
,
What's there to say? He's not that great, if he were, the Eagles would have fleeced someone for him by now.

The pro bowl is a popularity contest.

If memory serves, it was on a Sunday Night game against Dallas this past season. After throwing his 3rd pick, VY looked like he was about to make Vesuvius & Krakatoa like 5 yr old blowing his nose.

Everyone is entitled to his own thoughts, however I would rather try Chad Henne with the new offense then go with Vince Young.

They've had a propensity of putting average role players in the league, with the occasional shining star like Ricky or Earl. Colt McCoy is woefully inept at the QB spot, and is too fragile. They've won how many championships in the last 50 years? Hell, they've played in 22 Cotton Bowls and have only managed to win half of those contests. Not too great, considering it's basically a home game. Lot's of traditions, but not lots of success.

In hoops, they have a few good wins every year and a few **** the bed moments, they're always at least a few people's picks to win it all, and then they just can't put it together and choke on the big stage. Not so sure I'd be proud of that. That team with TJ Ford comes to mind. Always pretty good, but never good enough.

Baseball's probably their most successful program.
