The Chicago White Sox Thread

Alex Cintron gave the White Sox an early lead over the Tigers with a three-run double on Sunday, and the Sox held on from there, notching a three-game sweep of Detroit and pulling to within 5 1/2 games of the American League Central leaders with a 7-3 victory.

The team has some live arms in the bullpen, now if they could throw strinkes they'd really have something.

John Garland comes through with 7 strong allowing one ER. I recall a couple years ago when the Royals actually had some hope under Pena. Detroit gets to get fat on them at the end of the year so hopefully the White Sox do the same now.

Big time win for us tonight vs. the Royals. Garland pitched very well, and our bats came alive tonight.

I've been posting it probably since June but John Garland is the ace of the staff. He's been a stopper since about June and has picked up the staff after struggling early in the season. If the playoffs started today I would want him in game 1.

Yes indeed!!!!!

Freddie Garcia needs to pitch well tomorrow. The dropoff from last year to this in terms of starting pitching is absolutely amazing. It's easy to blame the starters and say they're just not pitching good but they pitched a ton of innings last season. Mark Buehrle may have the most innings pitched since '02.

After 5 Freddie has given up 3 earned runs which isn't great and Young crushed one out on him; although his velocity is up about 5 MPH's from the last game I seen him pitch and looks to around what he was throwing last season not for most of this year.

Jenks is a closing machine. Hope Thome's hamstring injury isn't major.

Good win for us tonight.

Even if Thome is out a week or two the problem isn't scoring runs for this team. Jenks is a stud closer but if MacDougal can continue to be effective he's going to be huge down the stretch. Ozzie and Don Cooper love to use their starters and have used them often for too long but if they can go Cotts/MacDougal/Jenks to close a game they're going to help their starters.

Never was to high on MacDougal, but he pitched very well tonight.

Garcia gave up runs in the first.

Seems are pitchers aren't dominating like last year, hope this changes come playoff time.
