The Cold truth on how our offseason will go the remainder of the way

Ummm...we picked Brown because Smith was taken. When you posted that thread Rodgers was still #1 on the 49ers list. We would have taken Smith...and obviously the right trade offer didnt come up but Saban CLEARLY really wanted to trade down. Everyone knows this.

Everyone is constantly bringing up these ridiculous threads about players and what we should do. I'm so sick of having to sift thru the entire site to find a few nuggets. People need to chill out and realize our offseason will not be hard to predict the rest of the way and it will go like this:

-We will NOT trade for E James
-We will NOT trade for S Alexander
-We will NOT trade for D Darius
-We will NOT resign D Boston
-We will NOT sign P Burress
-We will NOT sign D Sharper
-We may or may not trade P Surtain, but if we do it will be for a draft pick - no better than a 2nd. We will NOT receive a player in return.
-We will draft a RB with the #2 pick. We will 99% sure NOT trade down for additional picks.

I'm not arguing that it wouldn't be nice to have these players and I agree they could really help us. But the reality of the situation is is that we DO NOT have the cash to make these moves. The entire reason we are getting rid of Surtain is because we will not be able to afford him, not becasue his level of play has diminished. How do you justify losing a high priced player with exceptional skills for another when the entire reason you're making the move in the 1st place is for financial reasons. Use your head people, we simply don't have the cash!!!!!!

When you give up a draft pick for an established player, not only are you giving up a lot of money to sign that player, you are also giving up part of your future that you would have had if you drafted the younger player. Also, the younger player would come at a much cheaper rate.

EDGE and ALEXANDER, brilliant, DARIUS/BOSTON no kidding, BURRESS to GIANTS already, SHARPER to SEATTLE already....What are you talking about guy?

The guy made this post about a month and a half ago.

All bow down and praise thee. Just kidding. Bottom line, it didn't take a brain surgeon to figure this stuff out. People just like to hope and come up with other scenario's without thinking with their head.

You pulled up an old thread to gloat? We've all made predictions that were correct. And all of us, including you I'm sure have also made predictions that weren't.

Well my props to you on your vision that turned out to be correct. I am not happy at all that what you predicted came true, but it happened.

i don't think there was real interest in smith. he was coveted by other teams and the idea was to float information out there that we liked him so another team that did want him might bite and try to trade up with us to take him. the same thing can be said about braylon edwards. ronnie brown wasn't coveted by a lot of teams that thought it would be worth moving up to take him. whynot try to setup a smoke screen about a guy they might like to take so they could trade down.

I venture to say that if you had made such unpopular predictions, and recieved as much flack for them as he did... if they indeed ended up being true, you'd be doing a little gloating yourself.

The guy was SPOT ON. He deserves credit. Other of us saw it that way too.

Stockpiling picks and going cheap at skill positions (especially QB) are wannabe moves. Saban out-thought himself with this #2 pick.

Ronnie Brown is actually a good choice, but it will do no good. Someone has to get the ball to him and AJ Feeley is too stupid to do that.

I wouldn't be so sure. I would not be surprised to see one of the things you say "won't happen" happen. I don't know which. Just a feeling.

I guess I was thinking of the Boston re-signing.

Might be time for a small retraction. I only mention it because mine was one of the responses you pulled out when you revisited the thread.
