as fans, we all knew where are holes were going into the season. Nobody in their right mind trusted Dallas Thomas at guard (we wanted Mathis) and we also knew if a starting tackle went down we'd be in trouble because Jason Fox was bad... very bad. We didn't understand the Ajayi pick when our Linebaking core was in chambles... I thought we should've grabbed Perryman with that second round pick because RB's come a dime a dozen.

With that being said, will the front office continue to ignore our holes or will Gase and crew force them to address those issues? Also, were we handcuffed by not having enough money prior to the season last year or did the coaching staff think they could get by and "coach those guys up" on the fly? I'm curious, because If I knew going into the season where we would have issues, I know some of you guys knew and were scratching your heads just like I was.

To me the run defense has been a glaring hole. You have to start here, and teams gash us with the run and then finish us off with the pass. The blueprint last year was that we would get consistent pressure from Wake and OV, with depth from Shelby and Fede, combined with stout DT play from Suh, Mitchell and Phillips. With that, we thought we could get away with Walmart Linebackers and corners. The only way we fix the run defense is by having LB's that can not only cover, but stuff the run and the space left after the DT's take up the mass.

That is frustrating.

Every year I put together a mock draft without a trading down option. I almost always end up with more talent than what Miami ends up bringing in. This continues to surprise me since I am no draft expert. I do spend time reading scouting reports and watch some games, but not a lot.

I have questioned our scouting department on many occasions. I know coaching or lack of, is a big reason the team has struggled for so long. But player acquisition is as important.

It just comes down to getting it right now and not looking back. I am encouraged by the "tough, physical, smart" mantra and that the front office seems to get this, especially in terms of competing in the division.

IMO Dallas Thomas and Martin were all on philbin.

They just came off as the kind of draft picks philbin pushed for, and once he pushed for them he forced them into being starters.

No need to worry anymore. We now have a new GM, Chris Grier, who spent 16 seasons as an NFL scout and 9 of those came as Director of College Scouting with the organization of the . .

Wait, what?

Oh ****.

Hahaha, this is hilarious. But, I can see where you're coming from War because it does seem like Philbin forced those guys into the lineup. More so Dallas Thomas because we all knew we had to deal with Martin's play. Last year could've been avoided with a few additions. Jason Fox should've never been on the field and once Dallas Thomas began stunking it up we should've seeked other options. Our defense was bad, but I guess the front office was at the point where they weren't pumping another penny in to personnel until they got a new head coach.

Damn I hope Gase is the answer. We def need to create some depth roster wise. The NFL is a game of injuries and for too many seasons a offensive lineman going down hindered has this team. I really don't want to see us draft OL in the first round, but I'm also tired of seeing Tanny eat dirt.

All i can hope is that we can fix the OL and the LB core and draft a LB and CB early on the draft

We need a DOG in the middle. We've been way too soft at LB. It's bad when you miss seeing Dansby out there.

I have placed an inquiry with Roger Goodell about giving us the first 53 picks of the draft. I will keep you posted....

If this team would have just picked the consensus highest rated guy we would have a much better talent base.

It appears to me that successful teams (even the past successful Miami Dolphins units) have a smart, quick, quarterback of the defense- MLB. Someone to be a team leader and hold that defense accountable. This is why I think we will continue to fail on defense until we fill this void.
