i watched it 10 times last night paused my dvr so i could make sure what i was seeing.

3rd and 6 4:33 left in the 4th

chad comes to the line of scrimmage he's got ginn split wide left ricky williams 1 yard off the ball in the slot on the left side fasano lined up immediately off right tackle and camarillo split wide right.

ronnie brown is ithe lone player in the the backfield off the right side.

there are from the get go 9 defenders within 2 yards of the line of scrimmage both the corners are 2 yards off the outside wrs and there is 1 safety 8 yards off the ball and the other 10 yards off the ball. 11 defenders within 10 yards of the los.

chad under center immediately checks into the run play despite 9 guys 2 yards off the ball.

there is only 1 hole in the colts front between the right tackle and the te...just b4 the snap the safety who was 8 yards off the ball comes right to the los in the gap between the right tackle and the te and the other safety who was 10 yards off rotates to the middle of the field and drops back completely out of the picture.

so when chad checked he was looking at a 9 man front when he snapped the ball he was looking at a 10 man front all with 2 yards of the los the colts never checked out of their defense.

just prior to the snap ricky comes in motion in the backfield from the slot from left to right...

we have man to man on both outside wrs and a deep safety in the middle of the field.

the ball is snapped we have 8 blockers including the wrs and 1 ball carrier ronnie brown trying to run against a 10 man front.

ricky williams as he's in motion behind the backfield and chad pennington as he hands the ball off are the unaccounted for 2 players.

the play is off the left side dwight freeney who's an unnaccounted for defender forces ronnie inside into the teeth of the defense the play gains 3 yards i'm surprised it gained anything we kick the fg and you know the rest.

peyton straight down the field for a dagger.

What he saw was, I am not capable of throwing down the field and it's hindering my judgement

The facts appear..., that they were playing for a FG..., by running straight ahead..., Penny maybe lost his confidence to audible away from the run but..., certainly Penny looked lost in the final three minute - to 2 minute mark and perhaps the team took his poor cue...

nah buddy penny audibled to the run. he comes to the line and kills the initial playcall...the pass of the run pass option

Chad checked into the right call. He never should have been given a run/pass option on that play. Pennington will always make the correct read on his keys on those plays and he'll check into the right play regardless of the feel of the game. Some other guys might have pretended not to see what they saw and gone for a pass anyway figuring they'll just beat the defense and win the game. That's physical football, not mental football. That's not Pennington. Pennington is all about outsmarting opponents.

checking into a run vs a 9 man front is smart??? maybe on the goalline...lol

He checked into their 9 man front..., beacuse he thought they would scurry back - I don't get it..., you run on 3rd and 6 at that stage of the field at that point of the 4th Q and you are playing for a FG

Guys....we're going in circles in 15 different threads....it's all either Pennington, Ginn or the defenses fault....
