Obviously, we lost. But it was a close game to what I think is going to be a very good team this year, with Favre and all the money the JETS dumped into the offseason this year.

But my question is this. Although it is rhetorical, because I already know the answer.

Say we played the exact same game, to a tee. Except, in Pennington's last throw, Ted Ginn somehow comes down to it. Then all of a sudden, everything is changed. We'll win 9 or 10 games. Ted Ginn is the star we have been lookign for. Pennington is our hero. Ricky and Ronnie are just getting started. Defense is young and tough and hungry.

That's the difference one throw would make. And every single one of you know, that's the way ti would be had that pass been completed and we had won by one point.

So my point is this. Considering last year, I think we are much improved. Obviously, there is room for improvement, but damn, lets wait until we lose 4 games in a row. Then we can get depressed and say, its gonna take another three years and all this jazz. It was one throw fellas. One throw away from a win. And it's only Week 1. SO let's just see what happens before we get our pitchforks and torches.

you make a good point....but I'm going to play devil's advocate anyway

Ted Ginn still would have been invisible all day up until that last catch. The O-Line still would have under-performed in both the running and passing game. The defense still would have given up 2 laughably bad touchdown passes.

A win would have made everything SEEM better, but the underlying problems would be there regardless. We are a work in progress. a 2-3 year project after 1 week.

But I'd love to see some wins this year, even if they only serve to distract us all from the weaknesses we all know we still have.

THANK YOU! Our guys came to play. They were a nice catch away from winning it. 14 seconds left. If not a lucky chuck from Favre, and we might win the game. I was impressed by Langford and Merling. Sure we need help, but this is a 4 yr plan. I guess the Chargers are done also. IT'S 1 WEEK PEOPLE!

Well I think we'll still get several wins this year, especially with what 'seems' to be the new balancing/shifting or power in the afc.

Yeah, but we'd have been the "By God Undefeated Dolphins" for at least one week. Oh, what fun that would have been. Lol.

It wasn't one throw. The dolphins got their A$$ES beat physically in more than one phase of the game.. That is what is concerning.. Now the dolphins got some life in the 4th quarter as the heat got to the Jets late- that was to be expected. But during the first 3 quarters the Jets were clearly the better team, and beat Miami up physically on both sides of the line of scrimmage. Sorry but that is the truth.

You know the play that imo made the difference it wasnt the last throw it was the throws that we made on 3rd and 4th and goal i think we make one of those we win the game

Very True.

But either way, my point is....it was THAT close. And just imagine the difference in demeanor amongst the fans, especially on this site.

We'd be 1-0, tied for the lead of the AFC EAST. Playoff bound, and unstoppable.

Then the moment we lost again, the sky would fall and the four horseman would appear in the sky and Revelation would be upon us.

So let's just remember how close it was, take everything into consideration, and wait and see what happens int he next few weeks.
Because believe it or not folks, we are going to lose some games. I mean the Chargers lost, the Colts lost, the Vikings lost (many people were high on them). We still have 15 more chances to win a lot of games. So chilllllll bra

But I already bought my pitchfork!! :)

I agree with your point and it's very valid. But if that happened I think alot of us would have seen that we simply got away with one. We played a decent overall game but we had way too many bad plays to say we deserved to win.

Yes, agree completely. This game wasn't nearly as close as what the score indicated IMO. We were getting physically dominated almost the entire game and made a plethora of dumb mistakes. We are at least 2 years away from becoming a true contender imo.

Very true. FWIW, but the "experts" said before the game that the Jets are a playoff contender now, with all the people they brought. So maybe we didn't do too bad, considering all the new players, and coaches etc, we have. I thought for sure we would win, but I think we played better last sunday then in any game last year. Hopefully it will all come together this year and we will be competitive.

Exactly.

I was at the Jets game last year, where Beck started and the Jets wore those horrible looking uni's then beat our *** in them.

it was like 41-14 or something crazy. It was sickening.

Then, I was at this game on Sunday. The difference was not even measurable. Night and Day. And absolute 180, against a better Jets team than last year's.

So let's go, beact the hell out of Arizona this weekend, then whoop New England in Week 3. And we're right back in the ball game. Can I get an AMEN
