The Dion Jordan Selection May Have Sealed Ireland's Fate

this pick did not seal his fate...having 6 first and 2nd round picks under his eye as gm no longer on the team terrible free agency money allocations and crappy drafts sealed his fate...

The owner walked into the conference room where all the coaches and Ireland sat. He asked all of them which player in this draft would have the most impact or something along those lines.

They all said Jordan.

So if you want to bag on Ireland for that. I dont know what to say. Thats just being honest.

I just hope the next guy can figure out we need 4 OL starters pronto.

If the Fins would have beat either the Bills or Jets, Ireland would still be our GM. Therefore, the Jordan selection didn't really seal his fate.

Yeah, except Ireland did get a new contract and didn't get fired
Oh, so I guess he is still the GM then.

And if Dion Jordan ends up with 10+ Sacks next season then what?
He could, but we needed the production this season which COULD have given the team that 1 extra win. And save his job.

Props to the OP, you nailed it. Hopefully the days of saying WTF when the Dolphin draft selections are read will be coming to an end. Honestly, it seems like a monkey with an off the book rack draft guide can pick draft talent better than what I've seen from this front office. Signing FA's is another matter all together so I won't really knock them too bad there but swapping Kevin Burnett for Wheeler? Really? What about that made sense, maybe it was $'s?

Can you all believe this Thread? I wrote this back IN AUGUST!!! Who would have thought that EVERYTHING I SAID would come to fruition 5 months later?

It didn't...Sturgis sucked too!

ireland drafts by someone's lousy scheme/book/cheatsheet of "must have a pass rusher in today's NFL", so reach for a big guy who has no game translatable to the NFL.

Same book says "RB's are a dime a dozen and expendable", so ditch Bush who is tearing it up in Detroit for the FIRST-PLACE Lions, and rely on daniel thomas.

Same book says "TE by committee" so make sure NONE of the ones we have are starter-quality.

How ireland is even still allowed in the headquarters is a mystery to me.

Haven't the Giants won 2 SBs recently with this strategy? Ireland didn't get canned because the strategy was flawed. He got canned because the execution was flawed.
