Everyone is so concerned with the Manning ordeal that the real direction of the team will be defined quick. It might come down to the signing of Green Bay players which means the new system is in place and ready. I hope will fill the needs of the team and address the O-line with reasonable people that come at the right price. The qb spot is so critical to this team that I can't be overstating the fact. The secondary is a need also. I hope we don't waste money now and tie up cap money and strap us down again. I get it sign talent and keep talent but if Philbin has any pull in this we build in he draft. If we don't have the top notch QB to do this then don't waste money on older players. No one talks about Russell Wilson-Wisc, look at his stats I know the knock might be his hieght but this guy does'nt make mistakes and has a great arm. I think he is worth a look in the 3rd of 4th rounds.

ummm no one is talking about him because he's 5'11 and yes thats a huge Knock on a little guy :) no thanks,Chubbs

Sorry, 5'11" QBs do not succeed in the NFL. Can't throw over 6'5" linemen. I am with Chubbs, no thanks.

the direction of this team was established when Ireland was not fired...

I hope we sign under the radar players.......players who have not performed for others, due to system or coach, but fit our system/coach, players who have starting ability but are just being edged out by others on current roster. Players I like are Anthony Collins OT, Jonathan Fanane DE/DT, Dan Connor LB & Richard Marshall CB/FS. After this I would build through draft.

Not trying to stick up for Russell Wilson, I know nothing about the man. But Drew Brees is 6 feet tall tops. If you ask him, he's 5'11" and maybe 206 lbs due to weight management problems from a gluten allergy. Would anyone say HE has succeeded in this league?

Drew Brees and Mike Vick are both 6 ft tall. Are we saying that 1 inch is the difference between an all-pro and someone who cant play?

EDIT: as said above

Outside of Luck and Griffin, all draft prospect QB's this year are projects. Plan A-franchise QB in FA, Plan B- shore up our weaknesses in FA, then draft for best player available and speed.

Not saying "Go after wilson" or anything but Wisconson average height among their OL was the tallest in Division 1 ball, I remember hearing that from various people when evaluating Wilson.. I think you're assumption that a 5'11" dude couldn't cut it in the pros is a little strong, I do believe Brees is pretty damn short.

It would be great to get Manning but if he does not fit the plans that Philbin has then don't push it. Yeah he might make a difference now and maybe next year but to miss out on a 4-7 yr fix would be costly. We are still missing pieces there and the closer the start of FA starts the less a chance we have. It's not the end of the world if he says no. I would love to see him come in and struggle and turn the Broncs into a savage bunch of fans. The Wilson thing is just thrown out there to say hey don't waste a 1st round pick on a so called blue chip guy thats a rookie. Wilson will be there like 3rd or 4th round with little risk.

Living in Wisconsin, and being a Badger fan, the average height of the Badgers OL this year was 6'5". Wilson is a class act, maybe worth a look in later rounds.
