Well at least as of tomorrow morning I am. I may or may not have Internet access until I get back next Monday night. If I do, I hope to be posting some pix. If all else fails, watch the Cubs on WGN next Sunday. The Mrs. and I will be sitting in the wheelchair section behind home plate.

Have a great time, I'll be in Chicago myself in a few weeks for a convention. Enjoy yourselves.

Be safe. I'd tell you to have fun, but I don't think that can be avoided.

Hope you have some deep dish at Jeno's.

Actually, we're staying in Lombard and taking the Metra downtown our first five days. There's a Giordano's three minutes away from the motel. :fatman:

UPDATE: Day One

Well, I was able to secure a laptop,so I'll be able to post some updates this week. And I start with a doozy.

About 19 miles into our trip, a car from the southbound lane swerved over the median and across our path in the northbound lanes. It clipped a Stratus in front of us, sending the Dodge spinning out of control and dislodging its rear bumper (more on that in a minute). The invading car then apparently clipped a pickup before streaking off the northbound lanes, jumping a ditch and ending up in a row of corn about 30 yards away.

We were able to dodge the lady crossing the median (who apparently fell asleep or otherwise lost consciousness) as well as the spinning Stratus. We were not able to completely dodge the detached bumper, which apparently struck our windshield, but just enough to leave a crack 4 inches in diameter. All in all, we were VERY fortunate. Mrs. Z's driving saved the day, although she has a sore shoulder which we're getting check out as I write this.

The windshield will cost about $200 to replace, but we think we can hold off on the repairs until State Farm authorizes payment so we don't have to spend the money and get reimbursed.

Thanks for your continued prayers, folks ... they're working.

Sorry to hear that, doc. Hope everything goes well for the mrs. God Bless.

Mrs. Z has a chest wall contusion. They gave her a shot and some meds. Thanks for the well wishes.
