The Dolphin Backup Qb situation.

I don't see it as quite that simple.

It's fair to say if Tua is out for the season or long term that, yes, it really doesn't make much difference.

Where I differ is that there is another scenario where Tua misses a game or three. The difference between winning the division and missing the playoffs might come down to a game or two.

The backup needs to be able to function efficiently and effectively within the scheme. He doesn't need to be a hero. He just needs to not be atrocious and not give away a winnable game.

Do we have that? Hard to say, but we have what we have. It isn't likely going to change at this late date.
I totally get that, what I'm saying is it's way easier said than done...

First you need to ask yourself, who really has that and knew it before hand?

Then ask yourself who ever thought they had that and they were totally wrong?

It's basically luck.

my backup would be a dual threat so i can play defense and stress run game, trying to mimick what Tua can do from the backup position is just something I cant understand from this staff

It's not a bad idea... But the guys available to you for a backup role that "are dual threats" will completely suck at throwing the football. Have to keep that in mind.

no I get that, but so do skylar and mike white, the drop off is so steep from Tua that I would go in a different direction.

To me this discussion has alot of the same problems as the OL one...

There aren't enough good players to fill the starting spots. Trying to find good backups gets tricky AF.

OL is more forgiving simply because of the volume of players. Odds that someone slips though the cracks are there.

QBs? Might as well roll dices...

I think the way they see this is. Knowledge of the system trumps any kind of upgrade they might, or might not get by going a different direction.

Agreed..
You're gonna be lucky to complete a drive with 1 of them if Tua goes down. It would be smart to use audibles with the backups.. using plays they personally excel at and have practiced as a team for those break glass moments.
I think a DTR or Joe Milton type would be interesting with some coaching in our system.

I agree thats what their thinking

The needle in the haste for this offense is a dude with a poor arm, poor athlete, bad measurables but a strong as **** processor. Here's a dude that will slip through the cracks, he won't win you a SB but he'll give you a shot at a couple of games. Even these are hard to find.

I would agree. As I posted earlier, if they envisioned something else, the time to do it was several months ago. It's too late to change course now.

Ppl that think you can bring in somebody that will seamlessly integrate into the system without offseason and camp reps are wishful thinking.

Here's to hoping they break from this narrative and take an interest in upgrading by cutting White and signing someone to the ps with more potential to offer.
You need 3 QBs that know the system, playbook and personnel. You don't start looking for "potential" in mid August.
