imo our defense will be better vs. the Ravens because now I think all of our defensive players have a huuuge chip on their shoulder because they got burned so often and they want to show that they are so good like the games against the Chargers and Pats showed and not so bad like against the Texans.. they will be angry about the loss and they know that we could have won the game (easily) if the defense would have played like the last 2 games..

and I think also that the coaches will push them throughout the week to make sure a breakdown like against the Texans will not happen again..

another reason why the defense will be better next Sunday is because the Ravens have no real playmakers on Offense.. McGahee seems not to be really healthy and is not playing up to the level he could play and so that leaves them with just a rookie RB (Rice) and an inexperienced second year RB who is primarily a goal-line back (McClain).. Flacco seems to have the tools to be a good future QB but imo he is not ready yet and the Ravens knew that also because they were originally not planning to start him right away (he comes from Delaware, 1-AA school).. also Flacco's receivers are not the best.. Mason is solid and their best WR right now but he had his ups and downs this season and I think our secondary can handle him, Williams is a speedster but was hurt early in the season and now he is on his road back but imo we can handle him too so they have not a receiver even compareable to Andre' Johnson.. and btw Todd Heap seems to be not his former self.. their O-Line is inexperienced (87 total career starts) and I think we could blitz alot to pressure Flacco as often as we can and confuse/unsettle him..

another aspect is that (as you all know) their OC is Cam Cameron and imo our players want to show him that we can be a good team.. to my mind most of the players have no real hard feelings or even hate against Cam (like it would be against Saban) however they will step up and show what we can do..

so I am confident that we beat the Ravens, even though they have a very, very tough defense-one of the best of the NFL and I am anxious to see how our Offense performs against them..

Thoughts ?

yeah but I wonder how our offense will do againts the ravens.

You made alot of valid points. and while it is true that the Ravens have one of the best defenses, they are 1 year older than last year and are getting somewhat slower. I would love to see RW run over Ray Lewis again before either one retires and see our offense's strength, which is our speed, exploit the Ravens defense's weakness, their age.

Baltimore doesn't win with offense. The key matchup in this game is NOT our defense vs their offense. It's our offense vs their defense. If we don't win that matchup, we don't win this game. Their offense can struggle all day and they can still win a low-scoring game.

thats what i said.

I really hope to see our offense try to establish the running game early. If we can do that and get Ricky and Ronnie the ball I think it'll be a long day.

Also look to see the Wildcat more then last week.

I want to be confident we're going to win but I was last week and I ended up feeling my heart fall out of my chest. A win this week and we're right back on track.

i don't think the secondary will play better "because they have a chip on their shoulders" ... the whole mentality of this team is based upon that and everybody seems to be playing their ***** off every sunday.
No, motivation is not the problem, talent is. Our secondary can get ripped by a lot of teams in the league, are the ravens one of them? i certainly don't think so.

Matt schaub, brett favre and Kurt warner beat us for two reasons: either they have a go-to guy (warner and schaub) and just threw the ball on a covered Andre Johnson or a covered larry fitzgerald and let their WR beat the defender.... or they have a good feel for the pocket and were able to get out of trouble when the rush was prominent...

Flacco doesn't have a go to guy, and i really doubt his pocket presence ...
To top it all, our front will face a line that allows an average of 2 sacks per game. The one way they can beat us on that side of the ball, IMO, is if we beat ourselves, taking penalties, missing assignments, etc ... oh, and maybe if the ravens run the ball on us... but i really, really, REALLY, doubt that :D , our run defence has been a valuable commodity

I don't think our defense is as good as the one vs the pats and bolts. It is more a testament to our great coaching, they do a magnificent job in disguising our weaknesses (lack of talent in the secondary) and putting our players in good position to succeed. If we just had a better safety or corneback, we win that game vs the texans.

Agreed and if Flaaco is flushed he will run and be using his improvising tools..., that's where our lack of talent in the seconadry and LB core is somewhat felt... We allowed too many conversions on 3rd down..., and that along with conservative play-calling on 4th and 1 at mid-field caised us the game...

Personaly a team that isn't going anywhere near a SB.. can afford to gamble at 4th and 1 at midfield when your own defense is so porous..., one game doesn' a season make but that wasn't the fire in the belly play-calling that we came to love..., frankly we have nothing to lose we have already hit our home run this year..., why tinker with the make-up... I mean RB had 1 freakin carry through 1/3 of the game... NOT acceptable..., we did the Texans a favour by not running RB up and down Mario...

We won't win with our "d" on the field - I saw them live and they are mediocre... Our day is coming however
