I can't stand Philbin. He simply isn't a leader of men. (Cue cards?)

If he stands in the way of getting legitimate GM I'll be pissed.

It's not going to matter as much as the article implies or you think. The new GM will in essence have an "extra year" and an "extra available" strike against him if needed do to starting with Philibin and that could be viewed as a good thing.
 
Philbin should be kept only if the new GM wants him. If Philbin gets paid for the year what does it matter to him financially if he is let go or kept for another year and then fired.
But keeping him could be very detrimental for the Dolphins as the Dolphins should not be a ongoing training ground for new HC coaches.
Anyway, Philbin has had 2 years and he is still as gormless as ever. It's time to move on.

BTW, remember how long it took the Jets to hire a GM last year as they were bent on keeping Rex? Brian Gaine TURNED THEM DOWN.

Can you blame them for wanting to keep Rex? He is a pretty decent coach.

She was on hardknocks for like 10 seconds which was enough time to make me not like her.

I disagree. Any quality GM is going to want to start to build it "right" from the start. This has a big affect on things. Plus, what Mando writes about is so true. Eliminate Aponte or Joe ...or both and the job IS attractive. Not in its current state.

People denying that are just hoping for better days with a new face. It does not change the disfunction within Davie.

Because without an effective, legit, difference making head coach, the Miami Dolphins WILL NOT win.

Here is what is frustrating...he has a chance NOW. Hire a good personnel guy and set up a stable FO...if that means a new coach...so be it.

The half measures create MORE instability.
 
It makes sense. Sherman and Philbin are more responsible for the late season collapse. Jeff has done a ****ty job, but i'm sure he felt he finally had a playoff roster and Philbin and Sherman blew it (along with the players).
I think Joe needs to go for the clean sweep, and get that bitch Aponte out too.
Mando makes a good point: This may not be an attractive job for a talented evaluator, to work under Aponte and Philbin...
 
Talent >>> coaching. I wouldn't bat an eyelash if philbin was fired today but it was much more vital to the teams future to get rid of Ireland. Jim Caldwell got carried to a Super Bowl. I can't recall any crappy teams get there simply due to excellent coaching.
 
The new GM should have the freedom to keep or fire Philbin. Don't know enough about Dawn's role to comment intelligently. Was listening to Omar on 560 this morning. Omar spoke clearly about the relationship of Dawn to the future GM's role. He said that Dawn would not have power over the new GM.
