After deciding to move on from Ndamukong Suh last spring, the Dolphins had a vision for how they expected to stop the run, one that included new additions Robert Quinn and Akeem Spence, a heavy rotation on the defensive line and the insertion of middle linebacker Raekwon McMillan, who missed his rookie season with a knee injury.

The plan hasn’t worked out, and on Monday, the Dolphins found themselves having plunged to last in the league in run defense, allowing 142 yards per game on the ground and 4.8 yards per attempt, which ranks 26th.

Points per game allowed by defense is actually a point better than last year even with a feeble offense.

Yards are going to go up when your offense can’t stay on the field.

Our LB unit really needs an upgrade....along with other things.

14th . . . .With god awful LB play.

He is definitely missed but probably not at the cap hit he commanded.

A pre restructured cap hit . . .sure.

Thanks Tannenbaum
That's right! We improved last season. We we're 30th in 2016 with Suh

LB and OL have been the biggest complaints for several years now. This is a direct failure of the OF and coaching. People should be fired at the end of the season.

How the hell do we beat the bears, yet get destroyed by the packers and lions?

This team makes no sense. We're bipolar.

True, but Suh was hardly the reason for such a low ranking but when you surround him with garbage it doesn’t really matter much.

We had games where we started Spencer Paysinger, Donald Butler and Neville Hewitt at OLB. We got destroyed in the run game and in the short pass/TE game.

Suh accounted for 60% of all DT run stops in his Dolphins tenure. That is absurd with the amount of double teams and gameplans to limit his impact.

Nobody else stepped up.

Suh was a heck of a player, took on 2 or 3 guys every play. You might recall that with Suh in the middle, the guys on the ends were supposed to have career years....that never happened.

We definitely have some D-line issues, mostly driven by injuries and an aging Cam Wake.......but the number one problem is LB. We are awful in coverage and have been exploited in this area all year.

It's Tuesday and we still haven't seen Burke's resignation letter. Guess that horse has been hitched for the season. If he wasn't going to be fired before the bye to bring someone else in, it isn't going to happen.

Joy.

Maybe Gase is still looking for yet another idiot to run the same defense? Didn't the Bengals just fire their DC? Why not make it 4 consecutive ex-Bengals coaches at DC!
