The Dolphins' potential cap casualties in 2012

Cutting McDaniel and resigning Langford would be a good move. Probably not the most populart, but with Starks in the final year of his contract, it would be a good move.
Wouldn't signing the cheaper McDaniel make more sense with Starks in the final year of his contract. That would give you more money to re-sign Starks. Plus McDaniel provides more pass rush than Langford does.

if incogs making a number like $5 mil this year there's no question he should either restructure or walk the plank...long in the tooth vets who aren't that great to begin with and have high cap #'s should be purged or take cuts...

i have no problem with cutting mcdaniel and saving $3 mil if thats accurate...seems like a smart move to me...but i wouldn't go and put it back into keeping kandall langford when his markets probably 5 years $35 mil around $20 mil guaranteed...

good post brother, I would hate to see Bess go, and no way Carpenter is leaving, but I can't really argue with any of the other moves.

I concur... Bess will be a nightmare in the West Coast Offense for defenses...

Cut Colombo, Carey, Bell, and McDaniel. We would have over 20 mil in cap room after that. Plenty of room to do just about anything.

Both are already free agents.

Bell and McDaniel only add about $8-9 million to the cap.

I agree. McDaniel makes way too much to just be good depth, while we have depth that is ready to start

Right now we only have Starks, Odrick, and McDaniel under contract who contributed significantly this past year.

That's not a whole lot of depth.

pay cut is not always what restructure means...not by a long shot

not always... of course not. But most of the people here when they throw out the word 'restructure' arent using it in the way of ... lets shift some of the money around so we dont have such a big cap hit. its being used in that way... the "we overpaid for them two years ago, so lets downsize the money now in hindsight"

I agree with what I see on that list - Bell, McDaniels, and Garner all need to go. Nice chunk of of money to put towards Langford if he is willing to sign for $4mil/yr (max) and a new safety/linebacker/tackle.
