The Dolphins will not negotiate a new contract for franchise NT Paul Soliai by Tuesday's 4:00 ET deadline.

The Dolphins haven't even been willing to discuss an extension for Soliai, who is earning $12.5 million under the franchise tag. The 27-year-old run plugger will be a free agent in 2012.

don't want to overpay? if he's making 12.5 mill, what do you think we're doing now?

Ozzy rules!!

I just don't want him making Wilfork money that would be just stupid.

Good, they shouldnt sign him until he proves he worth it. He played good last year, but not great, and he needs to show it again this year.

i don't care what he makes. if he plays well this year and doesn't get injured (knock on wood), franchise him again (i think i read it will be around 14.5 mil) then negotiate the long term deal and remove the franchise tag (ideally).

dude plays better when he is hungry
i think the franchise tag was a mistake..
he spent it all on cheeseburgers..

Solai has not been good this year so ..I dont wanna sign him long term..I am hoping that we franchise him again and trade him next year. Unless he starts killing it again..I suspect Miami will switch back to a 43. Solai wont be needed.

I'd absolutely love for anybody to come to me wanting a contract extension...

mmm....I'd rather them just go back to a 43,cause appearantly 4 years in their still incapable of pulling off a 34

Looks like we'll be spending our first rounder on a NT.

This is a critical position and need to resign him at his value which is below his current 12 mil. It takes several years to develop solid NT play and they are now reaping the benefits of being patient.
