The Draft Day Trade for Leonte Carroo explained

From what I remember, he was one of the guys they were head over heels before the draft, they did what had to to get their guy regardless of where he was on the board or what it cost. Bottom line today, it was costly decision and it is a badly beaten dead horse. Let's just hope he pans out to be the receiver they envisioned in the coming years.

It's a bad trade up, but at the same time if he becomes a great player we may forget about it since the draft is all a crap shoot anyways.

I hate trading picks from future years. U have no idea how things will play out. Having said that if he pans out great. I thought when they made the pick it was to replace stills but now they want to resign stills and carroo will be buried on the depth chart. Have to see how it works out

Lets beat up the dead horse a little more.

Me personally, there was nothing in this guys video or tapes that warrant him getting drafted that high or getting traded up for. that deal messed up two drafts 16/17!

I still fail to see how the trade messed up the 2016 draft. Without the trade we would have had a 6th round pick last season. That was the only impact. I have a hard time figuring out how not having a 6th or 7th round pick can ruin a draft. In my mind the Dolphins gave up two value picks (a 3rd and 4th) in 2017 for one value pick (a 3rd) in 2016.

Jesus Christ, he had a rough year 1 as a pro... I understand this thread if this was Year three, but these threads about Carroo are ****ing ridiculous

I don't think the trade was that bad. I think you could debate the player selected with the 3rd round pick, but the value of a 3rd in 2016 for a 6th in 2016 and a 3rd and 4th in 2017 is in the ball park for proper value.

For example the Saints trades 3rd and 4th round picks in 2016 for a late 2016 2nd round pick. Sure that's better value than the Miami trade, but they also had to give up the picks a year early too.

Look at it this way Dak Prescott was selected in the 4th round in 2016. As it turned out if the Dallas had traded a 2016 6th round pick and 3rd and 4th in 2017 for a late 3rd roound pick in 2016 to select Prescott people would be saying it was a great trade for a player that ended up being a starting qb.

I think Carroo is going to be a solid pick in time and woth the 3rd round selection, but I can understand why others didn't like it. But I really think most people have more of a problem with selecting Carroo than they do with the trade that led to the selection.

It wasn't last year that would've been wrecked, it's 2017 that is shoddy. Luckily Miami should get 2 comp picks for Vernon and Miller otherwise they'd only have 5 picks total.

I was replying to the post that said the trade messed up both the 2016 an 2017 draft. Plus I think they made the trade figuring they would get compensatory picks in 2017, that's why the 4th round pick is a conditional pick that might involve a comp pick if Miami is awarded one in that round.

He's trash. Move on.

Agree to disagree. While I would say what has he shown in his little action that suggest he's trash, you could argue what has he shown that says he's not? To me it just seems like people didn't like the pick so they're going to dislike hm until he proves them wrong. I think I'll wait until I see more than 6 targets and 3 receptions before I count the guy out.
