According to Neal, neither quarterback is a very good answer to Miami's problem.

The real quarterback dilemma for the Dolphins is figuring out how to get a shot at Southern California's Matt Leinart without having another season of 4-12 or worse; or figuring out who will be the best quarterback in the draft if Leinart isn't it.

Whoever gets the gig will make some big plays this season, because the receivers and running backs should be that good. They will get knocked around, because the pass protection, aside from Saturday night, has been porous. They will make the big boo-boo that will lose the Dolphins a game or two.

Which is why it just doesn't matter whether the stopgap is A.J. Frerotte or Gus Feeley.

The biggest thing I see from the staff right now is that THEY don't see a clear starter. While Gus seems to run the plays the way they are designed and has the command of the offense, his ability to execute and connect has actually declined in recent games. Feeley is making completions, but they seem to be mostly outlet passes, even in a 'limited' version of the playbook.

I'll cheer for whomever is playing, and I suspect we'll see both of them, but this team needs a longer term solution, and *TODAY* neither of these two is it. Now, maybe one steps up during the year, but I think next season will see Miami with a new QB -- either via the draft or Trade/FA.

The question is, can the salary cap afford another high round pick, or will it also cost the team one of our defensive stars?
