The Fake Spike, 20 years later

That was an awful 4th qtr, my seats used to be in the lower level of that corner of the EZ so that play happened right in front of me.

Funny how much credit Marino got for it but it was Bernie Kosar who came up with that play.

When Dan got the ball back with the game on the line I had the utmost confidence we were going to move the damn ball. I miss that feeling. :/

on the other side even w/ the big lead I knew no lead was ever safe facing Marino. I don't miss that feeling.

After the GB game, "fake spike" is no longer such a happy thought.

Damn, hard to believe 20 years have gone by.

I was in that end zone, 15th row back, sitting next to my Jet fan buddy who had season tickets and invited me to the game. Awesome!

That entire second half was Marino in his prime. All the throws: short, intermediate and beautiful 40 yard lasers in between defenders. Young fans that watch Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers and are amazed, it's kind of like that (except there were a lot more rules and allowances that made it waaayy more difficult to complete passes and stay healthy)

:sidelol:

Shula's comment when asked about this recently:

"I enjoy talking about it, but never with Jets fans. I don't talk to Jets fans in South Florida. Or in New York. Or in the United States."

The Jets gave him his most crushing loss, I understand the bitterness.
