Take a look at the players chosen (since 1995) with the pick we gave to Dallas for two young productive NFL players (and starters) in Fasano and Ayedole.

Players picked #1 in the 4th Round

2007- RB- Michael Bush (Raiders)- No carries, no yards. Literally nonexistent
2006- TE- Owen Daniels (Texans)- Decent year catching the ball. Horrible run blocker
2005- FS- Sean Considine ( Eagles) - played only 8 games last year. Not a good player
2004- LB- Reggie Torbor (Giants)- We just got him in free agency, lifetime backup
2003 - CB- Dennis Weathersby (Bengals)- Out of football
2002- RB- Jonathan Wells (Texans)- Out of football
2001- OT- Kenyatta Jones (Patriots)- Out of football
2000- CB- Lewis Sanders (Browns)- Career backup. Has never started more than 7 games in a season of his 8 NFL seasons. Has started more than 5 games only twice and he is entering his 9th season.
1999- CB- Paul Miranda (Colts)- Out of football
1998- C - Steve McKinney (Colts)- solid starter at Center his first 8 seasons. Has been a backup the last 2 seasons.
1997- G- Damon Denson (Patriots)- Only played 13 games in NFL career. Lasted 3 years in the league and hasn't played since 1999.
1996- OT- Jason Odom (Bucs)- Started at Tackle for 2 years before leaving football in 1999 at the age of 25.
1995- QB- Rob Johnson (Jaguars)- It's Rob Johnson, enough said.

No hall of famers there who were picked #1 in the 4th round. A couple serviceable players, but no player worth a ILB who got over 100 tackles in 6 of the last 7 years (like Ayedole did)- and a Tight End who is an excellent blocker, with good hands, and plays smashmouth football who is very young with tons of upside just a week removed from 23 years of age (fasano)-. And a tight end picked in the 2nd round himself just 2 years ago.

Owen Daniels did have a nice yr catching the ball last season as a 2nd year player, but he is a horrid run blocker and he is one dimensional. Plus he is more than a year older than Fasano and he didn't play behind an all-pro top 3 tight end in the league like Fasano had to do..

So you naysayers please stop your bitching and moaning over this trade yesterday giving up a 4th for two starters to our team. The dolphins did pretty well with this trade when considering precedences.

lmao I think Parcells just stole some of the "GROCERIES"

lol we need a couple more threads about this trade:rolleyes:

but i totally agree with you bro, we got an absolute bargain and anyone that says otherwise is delusional.

Man dude, I gotta say I love the trade. We filled 2 needs with one 4th round draft pick that we're prolly gonna get back when we move JT tomorrow. But I think you're loving the trade a bit TOO much. :) Nah, I'm just messing with you. It's nice to be able to get excited about the draft for once knowing that we have a regime in place that knows what they're doing and is going to bring in young, talented, strong players.

yeah but it's not the same. I thought it was worth listing who actually got picked at #1 in the 4th round over recent history. I am sure alot of people didn't know who every 4th round #1 pick was since 1995.

I started it because too many people are flipping out over a pick that has a fat chance of getting us 2 players like Fasano and Ayodele. In fact, I know the pick has ZERO chance of bringing back two starters next season for offense and defense..........................................

It brings in need guys who are familiar with the system, I'm happy with the trade.

Fasano was a SECOND ROUND PICK two years ago. Are you kidding me? Awesome trade for that alone. Adding Ayodele is gravy.

Reggie Torbor is a lifetime backup???? the guy started the final 5 games for the Giants and did very well. i think he can translate into a very good starter for us....hes real young too. i think the ILB competition is gonna be a nasty one, and the best 2 guys are gonna be good....having Torbor, Anderson, Crowder, Ayodele all compete for 2 spots....the best 2 will get it and shine.

Good analysis, although Owne Daniels is a solid pass catching TE, which you already recognized.. BUt Michael Bush was injured all last year which was why he never saw the field.. He was non exisistant due to injury, not talent (although I am unsure just how talented he is, but I would consider him an upgrade over Lamar Jordan and possibly Damien Rhodes.. Possibly)

I wouldnt be so quick to call Torbor a lifetime backup.. He played very good and started just about whole second half of last season

I agree . . . the need for ILB just went out the window as we have 4 guys who can potentially start at 2 positions. Sure if Mayo drops to 32 . . . I mean we HAVE to take a look . . . but that is a pipe dream.

Now we just have to trade JT and get our 3-4 OLB and we are set at LB. Tho I'm sure Tuna always has his eyes on a LB.

Fasano for the 4th would have been a good trade for us . . . . adding ayodele was just IDEAL for us.

So besides one month over the last 5 years he has been a backup.. This is what backup players do, THEY BACKUP, which is what he did backing up and starting because of an injury to someone else who he was backing up.

Like I said, he is a lifetime backup and still needs to earn a spot.

Nice study - technically it is the 1st 4th round pick, but in reality it's the LAST 3rd round pick of course because of the NFL's own Alan Funt. Would be interesting to rerun the study to see who's who as the 3rd round final pick. Regardless, it was a great trade!

On the Cowboys these two guys are backups, but on our team they are starters. It's just a statement about where the team is now. The Cowboys got a 4th round pick for two guys that would ride the bench for them most of the year. We got two guys who may start for a team that will be no better than mediocre. We look at these players comparative to the talent on our team, and we see something great. I'm happy, because we improved the talent level of the team, but I don't necessarily think we got a steal.

True, but there were no compensatory 3rd round picks in 1995, so the actual 100th pick in the draft is probably what we should analyze.
