You could almost sense we were going to lose after not gettin a point that first drive...

After what seemed like 15 tries to get it in the endzone from our 5 yard line in...including an offside call on the chargers getting us even closer, Chad and Ronnie botch the handoff and instead of 7 points...or at least 3, we give them the ball back on a fumble through the back of the endzone....We were still in the game but going up 7 on the chargers would have been huge especialy considering we had the ball for almost 10 damn minutes....

***the observation i feel that hurts us the most is our play calling or lack of play calling from the 25 yard line in. We seem to be consistently settling for field goals...Running on 3rd and 6 or 7 on the 20 yard line although it works once in awhile is not how you are going to score enough points to win...We did this at least 3 times vs. Indy and it cost us the game...When we have a guy completing almost 70% of his passes, why doesnt Henning call a pass play so we can score...we cant win if we dont score, no matter how much time we have the ball...Also, Ginn dropped several passes although low by Henne, he dropped two in a row to welcome Henne to the game after being sacked his first play...Im sure Henne sent a fruit basket to ginn saying thanks for the help...the pick was a terrible pass, he should not have thrown it...however, my problme with that pick is this---If our WR's run hitches 99% of the time, the DB's know they are coming back to the QB or stopping 6 yards from the line every time and will obviously read the play...Let us throw it long for the love of GOD... Its funny becasue after our first pass was a deep playaction from our own end zone to Ginn i turned to a buddy and said "OK I Bet we will not throw the ball long for the rest of the day...And other than another Henne deep ball that was 5 yards OB we didnt...We are so predictable in the passing game its Scary.....Henning you have a lot of work to do to get back on my good side after these 3 games...

I wonder if that cut on Pennington's nose messed up the handoff to Ronnie. Did he have some blood in his eyes? I used to play running back myself as a kid. You're supposed to keep your head up looking for holes in the line with your arms locked into position and rely on the QB to make SURE the football gets into your hands. Maybe it was both of their faults. That rarely happens with Ronnie. He's pretty good about not fumbling.

our O has been playin pretty well until we reach the red zone...alot has to do with out players not executin the plays correctly but my personal opinion is the playcallin in the red zone has been horrible plain horrible

especially that 3rd down call around the 5 yard line. i think in 2nd quarter

I wonder why ever QB over throws Ginn? Even Penny...you know Penny...the guy with the weak arm. :ponder:

Like Steve Young said after the Monday Night game.......and it really pains me to say this.........we are playing for field goals in the red zone. I just don't understand it. When are the coaches going to realize that field goals are NOT going to win games for us?

I didn't understand why they even brought Penny in for that play.

If the wildcat was working so well why not just punch it in like that.

I heard the fumble was later credited to Penny not Brown.

You heard wrong;

"I think I kind of saw a guy running through and I might have closed down a little early on the handoff," Ronnie Brown said.

"I should have taken advantage," Brown said. "We've got to score seven points."

That would make it Ronnie's fault BUT the fumble would get credited to the QB.

It was Ronnie's fault. The handoff was fine. Like he said, he just clamped down a little too quickly to make sure that he didn't fumble. I attribute it to the coach getting on everyone about ball protection, which isn't a bad thing. But then you start making your players think more and in the process of trying to protect the ball, you cough it up.
