I have been hearing about the West teams Flying East excuse all season long. I gotta say, i think its baloney! I fly back and forth to Vegas a couple times a month and I am still 100% capable of doing my job.

So they are telling me that because a PRO athlete has to sit on a luxury team plane (not to mention deal with normal airports) he has a lesser chance of winning?

Our guys went West to Denver and got the W, im so tired of Seattle fans whining about the long 4 hour luxury ride to Miami!

I never heard any complaints, but I guess with time zones and things like that it could have an affect. who knows... who cares.... the Fins never complain. they just do their job.

Your job doesn't involve playing a professional football game at 10am

\just sayin

They're pros though bro!

Waaaaaahhhhhhh, its 10 am!

Although I agree that it is a myth and the reason they have such a poor record this year is that most west coast teams are piss-poor, I can see the reason for the myth.

Playing at what would normally be 10 a.m. obviously requires you to do everything three hours earlier (i.e. wake up, eat the pregame meal, etc.)

Yep, Let's say the players wake up at 8:00 AM on Saturday and fly out to Miami at 10:00 AM.

We'll say the flight is 7 hours. So they arrive in Miami at what WOULD be 5:00 PM, but it's actually 8:00 PM.

So when they go to sleep at....we'll say 11:00 pm (not sure what they're scedule is, just throwing out numbers), they're trying to get to sleep 3 hours earlier than they normally would. Most likely, they won't be able to get to sleep as easily as they usually would.

THEN! instead of playing the game at 1:00 PM like they usally do, they need to be up and ready to start the game at 10:00 AM. The clock may say 1:00 PM in Miami, but the Seahawks players are still going to feel like it's 10:00 AM.

So try getting to sleep 3 hours earlier than usual and starting your day 3 hours earlier than usual and play a physical sport....then give us all an expert opinion...

Considering I spent 14.5 freaking hours!!!! flying east once, I think these whiny millionares can STFU.

Serously Seahawks.

Here's a straw:

NOW SUCK IT UP.

speaking of this game while we r at it, do you guys think we should sit justin smiley for this week and possibly next week if neccessary to give him some rest? i say we do because even if he says he feels fine, hes coming off a year where he had season ending surgery on the same shoulder which is bothering him now, and he has been great for us and we r gonna need him as healthy as possible to make a run at the playoffs and maybe do something in the playoffs. also we r playing two rlly bad teams the next 2 weeks so i dont think it would hurt so much.

I think it hurts teams from the east to fly west and play a game. Usually when a team is as bad as the Raiders are or the Seahawks this year are it doesn't matter. Even if you don't believe that the time zone is a difference. It's still an away game which is always more difficult. Miami use to get off to great starts in September because of home field advantage and the climate. They seemed to tail off towards the end and struggle going to play games in the Northeast because of climate. Occasionally you hear of teams staying out east or west if they've got consecutive road games on the opposite coast.
