The tape out of Utah suggested that a “mean streak” was getting added to the Miami Dolphins offensive line. And to be honest, we were more in the “zone-blocking/finesse OL” business for a few years. The meanness and vulgarity in Asiata’s tape at Utah showed a strength and fearlessness that, I believed, were welcome additions to that OL group. We simply haven’t seen how those traits measure up in the pros yet.

He didn't contribute as a rookie so forget it. We need to draft more guards and sign some free agents to fix this.

In all seriousness, we need to take a long look at this guy. The site loved the draft pick and now just because he had a red shirt rookie year everybody discounts him when talking about the over exaggerated glaring need at guard.

I'm not nearly as knowledgable as some of the fans here so I have to ask...How common is it for a lineman to have a redshirt year, especially when an upgrade is desperately needed?

There should be an incomplete choice .. he’s a 5th rounder who needed to prepare his body for the nfl. No need in sticking him out there when he’s nit ready but if he can’t crack the lineup this year then he’s gotta go

I wrote yes, because there was potential there coming out of college at a more mature age, and sometimes it does take a linemen a season or two to get adjusted to the NFL, but I am actually more of a maybe, then a solid YES.

Not nearly as common as in other positions. After RBs, guards are just about the fastest to transition to the pros so it's not a great sign, although it does happen sometimes, so fingers crossed

I really don't know at this point, think about it, an Oline starved team with a rookie that didn't even sniff the field in the regular season, this doesn't look good at all. Let's keep our fingers cross on this one.

No way to tell. Soliai(I know he was a DT)didn't do much his first 3 years in the NFL but he did play as a rookie. This kid was/is way behind to not get a snap despite all the injuries and bad play on the o-line last year. He was also older for a rookie but we'll see. If he can't get on the field in 2018 then I believe the project is over. I'm not complaining here as we only used a 5th round pick on him

Ozzy rules!!

No doubt he needs to show this year, otherwise he's just another in a long line of OL missteps.

I don't believe Asiata has proven anything yet at the NFL level. And when it comes to our OL and inept drafting -- I'm totally from Missouri...

25 year old rookie and only managed 2 special teams snaps despite the fact that our guard play was atrocious most of the year. I don't have much hope of him developing into a contributor.

How can you say that when he hasn't even played 1 offensive snap in the NFL?

By decent depth guy, I just see that as his ceiling...there's not a "To be determined" option on this poll. The "Yes and No" is too diametric for my taste...he's obviously not there now, but that's where I eventually see him...not as a pro-bowler/HOF type, but as a guy that you can rotate around.

Should have specified, my bad.

Tre Mason, offensive guard out of Florida State; drafted by the Patriots two years ago in the 3rd or fourth round. He was pressed into duty the latter half of his first year and contributed to an abysmal oline. Second year he started and was solid.
