The Free Agency Kick-off thread

I'm gonna guess if we lose Paul and Langford you aren't gonna cry too much huh Hoops? I love them both but I'm still 99% positive that we're moving to a 4-3 which makes Langford expendable. And even if we don't, 3-4 DE isn't exactly a weak point.

i like them both and i think it creates a hole up the middle in our run d but if its 4 man fronts we're headed to i feel pretty confident that odrick and starks with their initial quickness and penetrating style of play can fill the void inside...i still think though we are missing one impact 43 every down de

as for langford i loved the guy think he's underrated but he's just not a 43 fit to me so that money and i think he's looking at $7 mil per in free agency needs to be allocated on someone else...solia thats a tough loss but in the end i think he's all about the money and we can't add a qb in free agency and pay him so i'm all about the qb position first and foremost

but i can also see them giving us the option to match whatever contract offer they receive i just see us walking away on both...

Agreed. It kind of pisses me off that we draft and develop them, and end up watching them leave just as they are hitting their prime, and we get nothing in return. I know it's the nature of the business...just sayin.

I like Langford. He's a solid player and all, but he really doesn't do anything better than Odrick/McDaniels/Starks. If we aren't switching to a 4-3 base however, replacing Big Paul could be a bit of an issue

I don't expect there to be any movement by the Dolphins today. Maybe they will set up some visits, but their hands are tied until Manning decides.

Just saw this:

Dion Caputi ‏ @nfldraftupdate

Also, #Dolphins re-signed restricted free agent DE Phillip Merling, whose tender is valued at $1.26 million. Former No. 32 ovr pick in 2007.

Edit: Just saw Nubs posted he signed it a little while ago. Previously I had only seen that he was tendered.

i don't understand bringing back merling...personally...but i guess they did it cause they know langford and solia are likely gone and that money with merling is not guaranteed

funny how the nfl is so greedy they wouldn't even let the ncaa have todays play in games day...instead nfl free agency opens and will take a bunch of peoples attention...nfl...got to love it...greedy son of guns

Why no interest in Fennie ? A sack machine at DE opposite Wake. If he's health I'd look at him.

How does that comp thing work ? Do we get picks if Paul , Henne and Lansford sign else where ?
Hoops , Nub you guys know this stuff.

Manning is going to Denver, that's all there is to it, imo.

Flynn or Tannehill and move on.
