Once upon a time the dolphins were so much fun to watch when we had the Dan Marino , Irving Fryar, Keith Jackson, Jim Jensen , and on defense we had the lovable Bryan Cox, Tim Bowens and Louis Oliver and other guys . over the years the dolphins have one dimensional on offense and then one Dimensional between offense and defense.
This tale has several villians and heros but the forgotten aspects of this team has become the recurent thyeme of drafting defense. Every year since Jimmy Johnson was the King Hair spray Warden 8 out of 10 drafts have been focused on the defensive side of the ball as a result we have not replaced Irving Fryar , the Mark Brothers and Keith Jackson and Poor Dan he was shackled by over conservative play calling and a lack of a #1 wr . some can say O.J. McDuffie and Orande Gadsden were good enough wrs but were they #1 material ?

Since Jimmy we have had Trace Amrstrong , Jason Taylor , David Bowens, JR. Seau , Terrell Buckley , Shawn Wooden , Derrick Rodgers and other players.

since Wanny we drafted lackluster players on defense and brought in aged vets and it all backfired.
we also have had 18 qb's since Marino , 5 offensive coordinators , 9 tightends 8 runningbacks and several wrs . When Cam came he replaced a hall of fame wr and a pro bowl receiver and the most brilliant tightend in fins history and replaced them with non pro bowl caliber plaers.

the final chapter
we have been drafting defense and the players are not performing. So what fin fans are overlooking is that every year we keep having these draft defense threads even when our offense cant put the ball in the endzone.

Why in hell cant we take the best player available instead of need ? there is more then one way to fix this team people . so why cant we do the best player available aproach and build both sides of the ball.

this Team neeeds fun players to watch on both sides of the ball and fun is what we are suposed to be here for wasnt this why the fins websites were made for?

I want to have fun again so what about you guys shouldnt we all be wanting to have fun players again.

i thought we were pretty fun to watch on offense this year when we still had ronnie brown, no comment on POS defense we had though...

The team needs playmakers period.... I don't care what side of the ball they are on but they should be assembling TALENT. BPA approach is the way to go IMO especially early.

Usually I would agree, but what if the BPA is a Defensive End? One of the few areas on the team that we aren't short on talent or depth. What then? A lot of the mock drafts so far having us picking a DE. I think that would be a wasted pick especially early.

Winning is fun! We do it more then 7 times in 2010 and every body will be happy! We do it a couple times in January 2011 and everyone will be very happy!

I don't know about you guys, but losing the way we did to Indy, N.O, Ten, Pit, and Houston really raises my blood pressure!?!?!

get Dez Bryant and our Offense will be real fun to watch

or

McClain and our D will be real fun to watch

either way go Dolphins in 2010

I don't know what you are talking about. The most fun I've had watching this team since Marino's heyday was last year (2008) with the birth of the Wildcat, though I did love watching Ricky run all over people in 02 and 03. We scored more points then (345) than the last 5 plus years and this year continued to build on that with 360 points. I do think we need a #1 playmaking WR, but the holes on our defense at LB and FS are glaring and really hurting this team. Dez Bryant is the only offensive player we may draft at #12 IMO and if we do that we will definitely draft all defense after that.

DE as in an OLB in a 3-4? Yeah we take them. Porter may not be back, and if he is he's beaten up physically. JT is in his mid 30's. Wake may be a great pass rusher, but he can't defend the run. Moses really hasn't contributed. Walden is here for ST. Anderson has shown flashes, but is also easily replaceable. If BPA is a Derrick Morgan or Everson Griffen yeah you take them.

If you mean DE as in 3-4 DE. Only guy I think is worth it is Jared Odrick, mainly because his skill set and measurables are close to Jay Ratliff (now if Suh falls to us...)

I had a great time watching Monday night when we beat the Jets. I actually had freinds calling me complimenting the Dolphins....And they hate the Dolphins. I think the average fan has gained alot of respect for the Dolphins that we haven't had in quite some time.

The 08 season was a blast. Last year sucked after Ronnie went down and how the defense just gave games away by sucking in the first half.

The last two years have been the most fun Dolphins seasons to watch (for me anyway) since probably 2002.

This. With Starks, Langford, Merling and Dotson it certainly seems to be our strongest position.
