The start of this season is a good example of how tons of hype and supposed "talent" on paper mean nothing. That is why they actually play the games rather than pencil teams in for the postseason. Do the dophins have some good players? Yes, but there are a lot of elements required for success in the NFL given the parity in today's game. At this point we still have some kinks to work out both on the coaching side as well as on the field before we are a legitimate playoff contender. How far away remains to be seen. What is amazing to me is how reactionary so many of the fans are. It's only a quarter into the season and people are calling from everything from "fire Saban, to play Cleo." None of these options are realistic, nor are they in the best long term interests of the team. Is Saban the football god that some people were touting before the season? No, but he is a proven winner and deserves our time and patience in developing this team. I think what is needed right now is a healthy dose of perspective. What I do see as good news is that we played terrible in both the Bills and Texans games (ok in the Pitt game) and still had a chance to pull off a W late into each of the games. Hopefully as the season progresses we will play more consistantly and give ourselves a better chance to seal the deal.

One thing that I think is painfully obvious is that it doesen't matter how many weapons you have at the offensive skill positions if you don't have a solid line to create holes for the backs and protect the QB. That is why I think it is impossible for us to evaluate Daunte's potential ability becase he hasn't had the time one the field (or in the system for that matter) to showcase his talents. Until we fix the O-line problem we have a long way to go before we see the postseason.

I agree with you 100%

Fans need to put thing into perspective. We got to seperate fact from fiction and fantasy from reality. The NFL is not Madden 2007!

And in the words of Chris Berman..."That's why they play the games!"

I get a good chuckle when some are already predicting we are going to get blown out by the Pats. It will be a hard fought close margin affair. At this point based on matchups and what the two teams have done up to this point the Pats match up better ON PAPER. So what?! They still have to play and if the Dolphins win the TO war we can definitely pull it out. Never give up.

Go Dolphins!!!

It's been 3 painful years of humility. I fear we're not through yet. This job is bigger than the OLine. This is about believing in a man and a system while building a culture. And, quite honestly, the turnover we had in the offseason put us back to Square 1 with Saban. We are reliving 2005 all over again.

Unless we maintain key parts of this team from one year to the next, this will become the rule and not the exception.

I realize many feel with Daunte's arrival the "big" changes are nearing to a completion. But, their is a bigger task awaiting.... replacing JT and ZT. Make no mistake, our LB/DL and OL are still on the list of things to "overhaul".

This is not done, by any stretch of the imagination. Pitch a tent and build a fire, Saban camp has got a lot to do and needs time.

if games were played on paper, we should have won against the texans and the bills game, minus the sacks, was one we should have one too. stats wise we should be winning, we just don't get the stats that count, points.
