the good about not signing drew brees

the good news about not signing drew brees is, think about it: if we had signed drew brees, we would still have dave wandstedte as head coach, bumbling along making bad calls. the same staff screwing up our draft, no parcells, this team would be a perenial 8-8, 9-7 team. with parcells and chad henne, we now have a chance to be a GREAT team, an elite team. A good QB is only as good as his surrounding cast. now we need to get henne some weapons and shore up our defense.
 
Signing Drew Brees would have been the better solution for a quick fix. We are now in the process of a long term building process. It is better overall and who's to say Brees would have had the success that he has in New Orleans if he were in Miami? It's time to drop what "could of been" and look to the bright future of this franchise.
 
I know we all want to sit here and examine the "what if's" of the Drew Brees saga but really do we need a bunch of threads about both sides of the coin?

We should concentrate on supporting our F.O. and Chad Henne IMO....

Just sayin...

If I recall correctly, Not taking Drew Brees was a decision made by the Nick Saban staff....so Wanstache would have been gone either way.

Not sure if that would have made any difference in Saban's decision to leave, but if it did, we would be sitting here with Cam Cameron as Head Coach?

which also means we would have never signed or traded for Trent Green, which also means Cleo Lemon may have never seen the field.....
 
Half the reason Saban left was cuz it was clear he made the wrong decision going with Daunte. If Brees was brought in, there is a fair chance that Saban is still our coach.
 
Saban passed on signing Brees... Wanstache passed on drafting Brees. Must be the ultimate redemption for Brees winning a SB on the home turf of the team that passed over him twice. He's a pretty classy guy though... I doubt it bothers him too much.

wanstache had a chance to draft drew,,but instead picked jamar flecher,,i believe...saban had the secound chance
 
If we would've signed Drew Brees, he probably wouldn't have a superbowl ring right now.
 
funny, the Miami fans are the only ones left regretting Saban's decision to pass on Brees.....

Saban ran back to college and just won the national title with Alabama...

Now Brees is a SB Champion with the Saints....

and us Fin Fans are left wondering what might have been.

only thing that could have possibly made this more painful would have been if the BCS Championship game would have been in Miami this year and they BOTH would have done it there.....
 
There is not a good thing about us not signing Brees. He would have been the same QB in a dolphins uniform. This was one of the worst choices this franschise ever made, I said it at the time and I will say it again today. If we would have signed Brees we could have use the picks we wasted on qb's , to draft players to build around Brees. The choice to not sign brees was devestating to this franshise, the proof is the Saints have a ring we are still struggling with medicore talent as evidenced by this years 7-9 season.

This such an awful post. Its pretty crazy to me, how you figure something as moronic as that. First off, Saban was the coach at the time not Wanny. Not having an elite qb on the team does us absolutely NO GOOD AT ALL!!!!!!! I like Henne but Drew Brees already has what we want and thats a ring. We already know how good Brees can be, who knows with Chad Henne?

Ok BEFORE YOU BASH PEOPLE WITH MORONIC STATEMENTS...DO SOME HOMEWORK...Wanny had the chance to DRAFT Bress in the first round of the 2001 draft with the 26th pick...INSTEAD they chose Jamar Fletcher who was a BUM and the Chargers drafted Brees with pick number 32....And we know how good Brees is NOW...there is nothing that says if Satan would have signed him he would have had the success he is having now...And lets even look at it this way...If we had Brees we wouldnt have Ronnie Brown...wouldnt have Jake Long...
