The Goods On Gholston

Carl Banks?

Yes Carl Banks, one of the leaders of the Giants' defense that brought two superbowls to New York, and a member of the NFLs All 80's team. Does that comparison really bore you?

I think Carl Banks is heaping alittle to much praise on Gholston. Gholston disapperas way to much on the film for me to go that far. His motor and instincts are questionable as well. Double digit sacks are a bit to far to I believe. If he gets 10 sacks this year I wouldnt be surprised but stil seems far fetched.

I said it before and I'll say it again, when OSU played Florida in the title game I'll never forget the deer in the headlights look Gholston had. If he couldn't keep up with the speed of the Gators, what is he going to do in the NFL.

As much as I am an Ohio State fan and hang my head in shame to your comment, you are right :(

Carl Banks is the latest Gholston comparison. I've also heard that he compares to Demarcus Ware, and John Abraham. Sure enough, both Parcells guy. I'm not as high on Gholston as some are, but to be fair Gholston hasn't been playing football all of his life, he started when he was a sophomore in high school. I know that doesn't mean much to some, but he's still learning some of the nuances of the game versus all of the other guys who have played the game their entire lives up to this point.

Gholston has his flaws, and whether or not he's juicing nobody knows for certain, but his upside is tremendous if he gets the right coaching to bring it out of him. In fact, I wonder if the Dolphins front office has consulted Ted Ginn when it comes to Vernon? Teddy should know him pretty well, and he could certainly bring other insights to the table that coaches and scouts wouldn't normally get.

he was a good player on a great team

Gholston has 4.58 speed, bench pressed 225 pounds 37 times and was the only guy who beat Jake Long for sacks. .....Vernon Gholston ...COME ON DOWN!!!

Yeah man the Big Ten is so slow.... Oh wait Michigan had no problem with Florida.

Face it Florida out coached, out played Ohio St. Get over the whole speed thing because the NFL frankly doesn't give 2 ****s about SEC SPEEEEEED

Florida returned 2 people on defense. I'll admit Michigan was the better team last year. The reason UM was able to beat Florida last year was because our DC kept Clint McMillian and Javier Estopinan in the middle rather than riding the pine like they should have been. Also, we had youth and inexperience in the secondary. Speed of the team had nothing to do with it.

By the way, it must SUCK to lose 2 yrs. in a row to the more athletic and faster team of the SEC in the BCS Championship game. OSU, while they have some good players, is more often than not the most overrated team in the country.
