That was one drive the D would have wanted back...had a chance to pin the Pats deep in their end for the punt ... but the D played amazing otherwise. I am wondering on the actual TD pass to Gronk, who missed the coverage. I know Grimes had him one on one but he stopped, did he anticipate someone else to pick up the coverage? Or should Grimes have continued? In the end, we won and won BIG! But I thought it was amazing that Gronk was so open in the end zone.

Grimes slowed up as if he was expecting help over the middle but hard to know what the coverage was.

Trusnik blew the cover on that play. Here was the floater and he literally stayed on the edge of the end zone with his back to Gronk the entire time.

Grimes had Gronk but Truznik playing the middle needed to find Gronk and didn't.

I had a problem w giving up a 94-yd drive. I had little issue w Trusnick as Brady had 10 minutes back there. That was going to be a TD no matter what.

It really wasn't blown coverage. I saw the play right from the snap and knew Gronk was going to come back across for the TD. There was just no way to stop that once the ball was snapped.

Thing is, Gronk is going to get his. You just have to minimize it. Yesterday we minimized it to 1, and that was enough. Look at the Colts-Broncos game. Thomas went off for 3 TD's early in the game. You just can't let that happen and yet the Colts did. You know Thomas is going to get his, like Gronk and like Graham. The key is to just limit it and make everyone else work harder.

I think this is right. On watching the play again, you can see Trusnik drop back but then seems to freeze and Brady waits till Gronk clears him to throw. You can also see from Grimes's reaction...he expected some help.

Part of the learning curve.....overall, our backup linebackers played very well.

I know people wants to blame someone for Gronk's TD but that one was on the team. With the lack of a pass rush, Gronk was allowed to run from the right side of the formation all the way across the field until he was open. You can probably blame Grimes for stopping but Gronk made a fake toward the safety and Brady looking that way, Trusnik moved toward the middle and both Grimes and the safety froze/stopped and allowed Gronk to continue his route.

That is what he, the floater, was supposed to do. He is supposed to read the QB's eyes and then react.

I disagree. Gronk can be stopped. Anyone can be stopped including Graham.
No one is perfect or untouchable.
Just like NE was supposed to win yesterday. We took the game away from them.

I was thinking how the **** was Gronk going to outrun the much faster Grimes. It seemed like blown coverage, but if he had him 1 on 1 from the beginning he should of stick to it.
