Just listening to the Herd on ESPN Radio.
Colin just said that right now, he can see Miami finishing with a better record than Cleveland. He was talking about how it's a QB driven league and that the Browns take too many risks and are not smart enough with the ball, and that they are in dissaray right now. It sure seemed like kind of a quiet nod to Pennington...

He then went on to say that he's not as high on Dallas because while all the other top teams are loosing key players (San Diego, Giants, etc) that Dallas lost something even more important... coaches and personnel.... That's 'cause we've got them all! Mwa ha ha.

Up here in the midwest, the only 'phins news I get is national, and for the past few years it hasn't been good at all. I'm not one to count my chickens before they hatch... and I'd be happy with a 5 or 6 win season, but I must say... it was pretty good to hear some positive coverage on the 'phins for once... Word's gotten out! They're on to us! The 'Phins look like a team again!

Thanks for the update. I usually HATE and DISAGREE with Cowherd but I'll go ahead and give him a break this time, hopefully he is right.

When it comes to the Cowboys, I'm a pragmatist. The Giants just lost Osi Umenyiora and the Redskins may lose Jason Taylor for a litle bit. Those are unqualified positives from the Cowboys' and Eagles' perspectives.

Cleveland's biggest weaknesses are backup RB and defense.

How will Rogers and Williams play in the 3-4? But even with that question, their biggest problem by far is CB. McDonald and Wright didn't look too bad as rookies, but they were not the 1 and 2. How are they gonna play without Leigh Bodden(who rediculously underrated) across from them?

Cleveland's biggest concern are the unrealistic expectations. When you win 10 games out of nowhere and just barely miss the playoffs, EVERYONE expects you to make the next step and get there. We've seen it with the Dolphins before. They overachieved last year though and I just don't see them matching that win total.

Not to mention the Browns schedule is F*IN TOUGH!!! have you seen it?

Steelers X2 (Pittsburgh just owns them now)
Cowboys, Giants, Eagles, Redskins
Colts, Jaguars, Titans, Texans
Bills, Broncos

Remember everyone picking us in the Super Bowl after our 9-7 surprise in 2005?

That and the Browns starters have looked freaking awful in the preseason (yes, yes, I know the "preseason"). They havent really been able to show that progression to the next level yet.

Keep in mind that the Patriots have looked terrible this preseason too, I think they're like 0-3, and the Chargers offense looked terrible the last time out.

Of course, the Patsies were missing Brady, and the Chargers were missing LT, Rivers, Gates, etc.

I think Cleveland will compete for the playoffs this year. They're too talented not to.

Colin C. went as far as saying that Pennington to the Fins was this year's Brees to the Saints of a couple years ago as far as impact on a team. Would love for it to be that way of course. His line of thinking that our power running with Ricky and Ronnie cobined with Chad's game of short but high percentage, accurate passing is a perfect fine. Besides Cowherd is an admitted Tuna lover. IMHO Brees throws a better deep ball than Chad but, Chad has the propensity, as we have seen over the years, to be able to get the ball when his receivers are in space enabling them to get as much YAC as possible. Even though it is CC we are talking about it is sort of nice hearing a talking head finally having something fair and decent to say about us. The Fins have endured enough bad pub from the press over the recent years.

I have been watching Hardknocks on HBO and I frankly don't see the discipline on the coaching staff over there. They are all buddy buddy with the players. I think it has been reflected in their preseason games too. The loss of the coaching and administration of that team is going to hurt. Sporano is just the opposite. They are busting the Fins players tails and emphasizing execution and accountability.

This will be an interesting season. If we win convincingly in week 1 it will be HUGE for this young team's confidence. It could be very interesting indeed.

Wow. I was just talking to my best freind about that yesterday. I was telling him that times are changing quickly in the NFL. There were alot of key injuries this week. Not to mention there are teams that don't look in sync out there. It wouldn't suprise me if we finish with a better records than some of these teams:

Ravens
Bengals
Browns
Redskins
Packers
Jets
Titans

These teams have looked horrible. There was so much hype going for these teams before pre-season with all those big name free agent additions and thus far, they have not impressed me.

If we can stay healthy and progress the way we have this pre-season, by mid-season, we should be a whole lot better. Maybe even pushing for a playoff spot that one of the above teams will leave vacant.

I would think the Browns would fall back before being very good again. It happens with all teams that are climbing their way back up towards playoff contender. First, you rebuild and start to show signs of being a good football team. Then you regress the next year or so. I fully expect the Browns to be a good team in the next 2-3 years.
