Dennis the Menace . . . . . Hickey Doowright . . . . how bout

Doo Hickey . . . . or dat sticky icky hickey

whatever you want to call it . . . . the man has played this offseason like a gee

albert moreno delmas and finne . . . flipped 3 top 80 picks into 3 top 60s and
kept a 4th . . . . completed the off. line and wide receiver unit in one day
and left himself with four shots at an open board . . . . that's pimpin

it's been confirmed the cards were taking james hence the 5 second trade down
that immediately followed our selection , and the saints didn't want a pick in
the teens . . . nvm the fact we were pigeon-holed into taking a lineman

you wanted an additional third , , , he back-doored it

you wanted a protected quarterback , , he scored it

i like the way dolphin b put it when saying we were finally at the
top of a position run rather than the bottom for both lineman

and on top of that

a hoops scoop top 5 wr , , , , , in the third round

pound for pound the best receiver in the draft

a young boldin hines with wheels

that's crazy

I am with you I like the draft so far but where did you hear about the AZ thing being confirmed?

It's been reported the Cards were taking James so the Fins did not want to move past them.

made up by someone on FH to make themselves feel better about the huge reach

No but it makes you feel better to make that up.

Reported where? Still haven't seen a reputable source. Until then I call bs

No where have I seen it reported AT ALL the Cards would have selected James. EVERYWHERE I see it reported that Hickey played it safe. Not a bad write up, but it loses credibility when you try to back up a move with something that isn't true. It was a reach, we got a good player but not a 19th pick player. EVERYTHING points to we could have traded down and got James and a 3rd round pick as well. I am not bashing the player, it was a need....but it was a reach none the less.

This times x1000 not bahing the player bashing when we picked the player, Hickey panicked and reached

You guys remind me of bad poker players that convince themselves their fold was a good one, but only after they see the flop of course.

I always felt like the Raiders panicked and took whatever they could get when we traded up for Jordan, so one of us has to be wrong in the panic department. Hickey was talking, he admits it, he was open to making a trade but he held firm on his compensation, that doesn't sound like panic to me.

Was Hickey nitty? Sure.
Will James end up being the best player at that spot? Highly unlikely imo.
Was James the best "bang for buck" value to fill our hole at RT and provide depth? I think so. We've been going the vet on his last legs to fill holes route since 2008 and it hasn't been working

This is the instant gratification age of the NFL (I mean, people are asking for Hickey's head on a platter already before his team has even seen the practice field for crying out loud) and these guys understand you need to get the ball rolling as quickly as possible in order to even have a chance at building the team the way they would like. I can almost guarantee that if Hickey and Philbin were promised they had 10 years to do whatever they see fit they would not have taken James in the first. But it is what it is.

Thats a pretty bad analogy lol.. actually if anything we are bystanders pointing out poker players getting caught bluffing or being bullied into a play.
The rest of your post is pretty right on yes in the end of the day he filled a need.

If the possibility of this trade was brought up before the draft I'm pretty sure most would have laughed it off as ridiculousness. Results oriented = bad poker player.

19 was worth their first, third and fourth. Nothing less than that.

Seriously, where is this report about James going to the Cardinals? I seriously doubt it's credible.

Best line......flipped 3in the top 80 into 3 in the top 60 and came out with an additional 4 th sounds brilliant to me

HAHAHA, what do you expect him to say? "Ya, sorry guys the clock was running and I panicked"? Also by the time he talked, the internet was blowing up about how we reached and how the next team traded out to move a few spots and to get a third round pick. Common sense man. It boils down to me a rookie mistake by Hickey that I think he will learn from it. We got a good player and in all likelihood, it only cost us a third.

Common sense to me is he was open to make a deal but didn't feel like he was offered fair compensation. But we can agree to disagree on that.

I probably would have taken the trade but then James wouldn't have been an option for me at all, but the point is the value was not great nor was it the worst thing ever. IMO the trade value was fair so we probably didn't gain or lose anything (and I'm talking about the decision he had before knowing how it all played out). You people running around acting like we threw away a "free" third round pick are just being results oriented.
