Well the draft is so close yet so far. While every year is a new year I thought it would be fun to take a look at some of the best and worst #9 picks over the last 10 years.

1997: The Arizona Cardinals select: Tom Night
1998: The Jacksonville Jaguars select: Fred Taylor
1999: The Detroit Lions select: Chris Claiborne
2000: The Chicago Bears select: Brian Urlacher
2001: The Seattle Seahawks select: Koren Robinson
2002: The Jacksonville Jaguars select: John Henderson
2003: The Minnesota Vikings select: Kevin Williams
2004: The Jacksonville Jaguars select: Reggie Williams
2005: The Washington Redskins select: Carlos Rogers
2006: The Detroit Lions select: Ernie Sims

The Best:
Brian Urlacher
John Henderson
Kevin Williams
Fred Taylor

The worst:
Tom Night (I may be wrong, but I dont even know who he is)

The Decent:
Chris Claiborne
Koren Robinson

To Be Decided:
Ernie Sims
Carlos Rogers
Reggie Williams (though he needs to step up soon)

Overall it hasn't been a bad place to draft and teams over the last few years have gotten quality talent that has produced for them. Hopefully no matter what name is called this weekend we will continue the trend of good #9 picks.

lol@tom knight, he was a CB, think he ended up on the pats before leaving the league in like 02

1989 round 1, #9 pick Miami Dolphins selected Sammy Smith. I hope we do better this time. You never know the difference between sure thing and bust.

ernie sims will be a player for a long time to come, i dont question that. Hell rack up tackles in detriot

Oh I think so also. I just think it's to soon to say he is one of the best, and decent would be an insult to him IMO.

You bite your tounge talking about Reggie Williams Alex!

He is a saint up here in Washington.

Nice thread Alex.

I thought Tom Knight was a character from Harry Potter:lol:

I think things look pretty good for us at 9 at this point...unless we pull a Wanstache...
There is gonna be serious talent still left all the way through the first round IMO

LOOK AT THE 9TH PICK
The Dolphins' first pick in this year's draft currently falls in the ninth slot overall. It would mark the third time that Miami has utilized this spot in the draft. They also had it in 1989 when they took Florida State running back Sammie Smith and again the following year when they tabbed Texas A&M tackle Richmond Webb.

The following is a look at how the 9th spot of the draft has been used since the 1970 merger.
