If I'm not mistaken, Fasano is primarily a blocking TE. I think that if our O-line is viewed as successful--i.e. good running numbers, time to throw the ball, low sacks--that it will be, in no small part, due to the acquisition of Fasano. For the past 2 years, our TE and RB have been forced to stay in and block because our O-line was deficient. If Fasano is able to make an impact as a pass blocker (which neither Martin nor Peele was able to do), it should free up our RB to catch passes out of the backfield. I think that that is one of the trademarks of successful offenses...a pass catching RB or a TE up the seam. Sadly, we have lacked both.

So, in assessing this draft, we have to remember the players we got through the trade. I think Fasano has the potential to be invaluable to this team. If he is a consistent receiver, it will be that much beter.

Fasano I believe was second all-time in receptions @ Notre Dame for tight ends...take that for what its worth. I think he is a pretty good reciever with good hands. I would think of him as more of a Frank Wycheck type than say a Kellen Winslow type. He will definitely help in the run game though.

ya he is good at both blocking and catching. he was just in the shadow of witten his whole career. he will stand out in miami.

I don't think he's developed a specialty yet re: blocking vs catching... he was a highly regarded and well-rounded TE prospect, which is why Parcells likes him.
