Their LBs are as good as the Ravens and their secondary is disgusting. I really worry for us this season. Hopefully Clemmens throws so many picks it renders their defense pointless.

Strong competition in our own division is healthy and should be welcomed.

Their secondary is strong. Two top tier CBs is scary with the help at Safety.

But I'm not sold on their LBs. I'm interested to see is B. Scott is for real. Playing on the Raven's D with that much help around him made him look better than I think he really is. Just my opinion, but it will be interesting to see if he can be that guy he was brought in to be.

Harris disappeared last year, so it remains to be seen if he'll return to his rookie year performance.

If they signed a Peppers / Taylor type at OLB, I'd be more concerned. It doesn't matter how good the cb's are if there's no pressure on the qb. I know Scott can play outside, but i think they have him pencilled in at ILB.

I am more concerned about Scott in a Jets uniform then I would be about Taylor. Taylors career is in a tailspin, and he has declined majorly from what he once was.

Harris was also playing injured for most of the season, but he did disappoint after a monster rookie season. It will be interesting to see what kind of pressure Ryan can scheme up. Pace is a nice OLB, he spent too much time in coverage last season it seemed. Maybe he can get Gholston to do something too. I love Scott + Harris + Pace though. Scott gives us a LB that can actually cover - we sorely missed that last season.

As for Sheppard, he's a question mark. If he stays healthy he'll be a big upgrade, but he hasn't been able to do that in a long time. At least the conditional trade protects us from him getting hurt. I wouldn't mind a CB at #17.

Paper champsions..Lets wait till the season starts.

scott played behind one of the best NT is nata and along side lewis and suggs .so lets wait till putting him in the hall of fame.

ryan has never been a HC and one of the biggest reason for ravens defence is newson their GM who drafts players and he has done a good jobs . the ravens continous dominance is due to great draft picks so we got not a clue as to how he will draft or even be a HC.

so give it 10 games and we can revisit this thread and probabily make more sense.

Rex Ryan will be the Cam Cameron of defense...good DC just like Cam was a good OC but will fail as a HC...:D (Hopefully)

Their secondary has to prove it though. Lito was benched last season after his fallout with the FO and did nothing. I think he is a very good corner but he has to prove himself again.

Leonhard IMO is a product of the players he plays around. Hopefully though Ryan knows how to get the best out of him.

I didn't say champions. I just said their D is beastly now.

Wern't there a bunch of threads like this last year when the jets bought up the fa market too? I'll wait until I see it in action before passing judgement. On paper it looks good, but it means nothing until the games are played.

oh beleive me a true die hard dolfan knows the jets are always game to throw down that W against us. were luck when we beat them. Ryan aint no joke and we will get beat if we dont make the right moves. Call more serious hard nosed football plays. all this wildcat stuff will surely get us beat in the next yr. what we need to do with all that size there trying to build is run that ball down their throats best we can we better believe if we dont play more serious, on running even when they expect us too, we will not get better, we will fall from the sky.

Harris was never healthy all year. He got hurt in camp and never fully recovered. When healthy he's a beast and teamed up w/ Scott it should be fun.

Our D will be a top 10 D, the question is can we score? We'll have enough D and STs to keep us in games but if we can't score we won't win. We have a good OL, excellent pass catching TE, 1 good starting WR but QB and the other starting WR are question marks.

Defense is not the issue on your team. A new head coach and unproven QB's are the wildcards to how your season unfolds. I am curious to see how Jets fans as a whole react to your new head coach. If he goes 8-8 is the fan base going to turn into a lynch mob and if you go into post season are they going to annoint him as a god. Your right though your defense should keep you in games. It is just a matter of good play calling and finding ways to get points on the board.

If Ryan delivers on his promises he'll be beloved.
