Do you realize that Culpepper has not really played in two years, do you realize he just may never get back to his 2004 form. Do you know how old Lemon is??? Do you want Harrington?
No, he hasn't fully played in 2 years. But is that really such a large obstacle to his return? There's a reason we have two months of training camp and 4 preseason games before the regular season begins.
Cleo Lemon is 28. I want him as our backup. Or if we can send him off to a team for a high draft pick, I say send him off.
No, I don't want Harrington. I was one of the few people to call him on his poor play this entire season, and caught a lot of crap for it. But I was right. But if we send Lemon off, I have no problem keeping Harrington as our backup. Or if we manage to send both Lemon and Harrington off, then I don't have an issue drafting a QB in the second round. But I'd prefer to avoid drafting a QB this year.
We need to draft a young guy to challenge and groom. If Russell or Quinn are on the board we jump all over them, if not we take one round 2 or 3.
We need to give a healthy Culpepper his chance. The guy is hungry. Even during rehab and being placed on IR, he attended all but one team meetings this season. He attended every game, whether on the sidelines or not. The guy is dedicated. We know he can get the job done when given the tools. Instead of writing him off, let's give him the chance to be the MVP-caliber QB we know he can be.
And let's say Culpepper really is finished, and our 2007 season sucks. Fine: we'll get a high draft pick and a shot at two of the best QBs playing college football: Brian Brohm and Colt Brennan.
But if Culpepper doesn't suck, and we use our #9 pick on a position of genuine need--LB, CB, LT--we'll be all the better for it in 2007.
