watching big Ben throw a 90 yd td makes me want to cry, why o why can't we even try. now its on to objectively watching the NFL with no rooting interest makes me realize how sorry we are

Completely agree. If no one would of told of me, I would of sworn Chad Pennington was our QB today.

Yes, it like they're allergic to a 20 yd pass or something, really strange. Now even outsiders are talking about it on radio and tv. Jeez wtf

Chad Pennington would not have taken so many sacks.

I understand the offensive line is weak, but jeez, why doesn't Tannehill sense the pressure and throw the ball away? Ever? There were a number of sacks today where he had the time to make the decision to avoid the sack.

Here's the options...

1) Make a short pass "check down"

2) Go long and throw quick due to pressure, more than likely resulting in an overthrow due to immature route

3) Wait for route to mature and take a sack because of the pressure

4) Roll out and complete a long pass but have it called back due to a penalty

There, that about covers it for today...

Good point. Tannehill could of avoided a few of those sacks by throwing the ball away. He takes some of the worst sacks. Pennington would of known better.

This thread touches a nerve for me. I had exactly the same thought watching that play, OR the bomb to AJ Green. Luck and Hilton probably have over 10 40 yd completions in 3 years, if not 20. Miami's lack of deep passing = pretender, not contender.

I'd like to hear a reporter flat-out say to Philbin: "You know that your lack of deep passing success makes you a league-wide joke" and see his head explode.

We definitely need some competition for Tannehill next year, too. If he's not running then he's effective cuz he's just not a good enough thrower of anything but line-drive bullets.

It's what separates the pretenders from the contenders. Look at the NFL highlights this week. AJ Green catching long passes, TY Hilton, Russell Wilson and Mark Sanchez exchanging bombs, Big Ben throwing deep, etc.

This offense has none of that. We faced arguably one of the worst secondaries in the last 10 years and couldn't even attempt a deep pass. They even LOST guys during the game and we didn't attempt a deep pass. Blocking can't holdup but some of it is design and the QB audibling, making pre-snap changes. Our QB doesn't do that, our OC doesn't do that. Want all of this changed with new faces.

Big Ben has an offensive line.

just to think I've been so tired of big O on WQAM calling him the man in the box....hes absolutely right...Thill is taking us nowhere

I like Tannehill but I do recall on a third down pass he had Williams immediately wide open in the flat that would have resulted in an easy first down but he looked at his first read and then was sacked. If he finds Williams first, first down

i was screaming at the tv on that play, he is to dimwitted to come out of his reads, you play to win the game

Funny because in this thread a lone I see he doesn't go deep and then when he doesn't hit a check down to look deep he gets blasted anyways. I remember maybe 5-6 plays in which he was looking deep during the game. In EVERY instance he was immediately pressured in such a way, it would be impossible to throw an accurate pass. EVERY SINGLE TIME. I am not sure what game some of you were watching in which he had a chance to go deep.....it wasn't the game today.
