First off let me say I hate reading mock drafts for months and months on end before the draft. To me it is pointless and a waste of time. Because most of it is 13 year olds with their dream scenario BS.

However, now we are a day before the draft. So this is a good time to really discuss this and have a little fun with it.

So how about this, the following is a chart from players 1 -100.. Let's just say these will be the players picked in the draft EXCEPT FOR MIAMI's picks. Miami picks #1,32,57,64,100.. My question for you folks is, who do you pick in the spots based entirely on this chart of players.. You cannot make a pick for a player at 64 if he was slotted at 60 for instance.. You can only go back in such a case and pick a player at 64 or after 64. Just like a real draft.

This is how our staff will have to think. They will have to make choices, obviously.. So by looking at this chart, you know the players selected before you pick, Now tell me who do you choose in each draft slot- Here's the chart-

http://www.thehuddlereport.com/FREE_CONTENT/valueboard100.shtml

According to that chart, I've got-

1- Jake Long (obviously)
32- Quentin Groves (but I am so tempted to take Cason instead)
57- To be honest, I can't decide between Godfrey, Fred Davis, Carl Nicks, John Greco, Rachal, Sims, or Duane Brown (boy I wish we had more picks in round two)
64- same as above (lol)
100 - This just shows how good and deep the 2nd and 3rd rounds are. Greco and Nicks are within reach here.

Yeah, I'm going to need another 20 minutes to decide what I want to do with picks 57 and 64. Those 2 picks are huge for us imo.

Furthermore, this makes me want to trade JT even more. For a 2nd rounder we can get a mighty good young player in return. This draft has some very good 2nd round talent. And if we can get a 4th as well for Taylor, we can parlay that 4th with our own 4th (which is the 1st pick in the 4th round) to move up to the 3rd round to pick a player we really like who fell a little.

Alot can be done with a JT trade. People who say we shouldn't trade JT unless we get a 1st rounder back are nuts..

32. Curtis Lofton - solidify the run d
57. Chilo Rachal - LG
64. Charles Godfrey - we need some corners
100. Tom Zbikowski - don't feel like combing through a list of the remaining players atm, so Zbikowski by default, although this guy sure can hit hard

I like Lofton too. But he is small. Remember Parcells likes BIG 3-4 linebackers.

Parcells is transforming the dolphins into a much bigger and stronger team. Just listen to what he and Ireland have said about that. And look at who we are selecting at #1.

Miami is looking for size size and more SIZE. And guys who are very strong to go along with those big bodies.

I just don't think the staff will go for smaller guys like the 6'0 Lofton. And hell, I think that 6'0 listing is generous- he looks like he's 5'9 on the field compared to the other players. He looks like a dwarf.

That is the reason why I totally disregard guys like Lofton, Flowers and Keller..Keller is the size of a running back for goodness sakes. He will get destroyed trying to block in the running game as I believe we will rely heavily on the ground game next year with our roadgraders up front. No chance Miami takes him even if he falls to 2b imo (just to give another example).

So guys you should get Keller, Lofton and Flowers off of your mocks. For instance, Parcells would much rather have the 6"0 1/4 Antoine Cason than the small 5'9 3/4 Brandon Flowers for his #1 corner trying to cover the big #1 receivers in the NFL.

Lofton is like 245 is he not? That is not small if so. We supposedly were interested in Dan Conner and he is like 230 lbs. Alot of these LB's are not tall like 6-4 or 6-5. That is why I would do cartwheels if we get Shawn Crable at 100. I think that would be a steal....and another Meeeeechigan Wolverine.

You can't pick Nelson at 2b (#57) because in the chart he was taken at 51.

I didn't ask people for their mock drafts, we have seen a million of them already. I asked people to go strictly by that chart.

My bad sorry....

1. J.Long OT
2. Q.Groves OLB
2. J.Jones DE
3. C.Stevens TE
4. M.Monk WR (he's a reach but we have no 5th pick)

I'm gonna give 3 picks as a "in reach" point . . . (for example: if the we pick 4th . . . then we could also reach for the #2 or 3 ranked players . . . not the first)

1. Jake Long
32. Antoine Cason
57. Cliff Avril (ranked 55th)
64. Pat Sims
100. John Greco (ranked 98th)

If we were to get JT somehow with a early 2nd rounder . . . I would switch the 32 to Groves . . . draft Cason with the next pick . . . and at 57 probably get Fred Davis.

He's 235 and he looks very small on the field. He's just not a Parcells type of 3-4 LB.

remember, in a 3-4 you need big LB's because more offensive linemen are free to pound on your LB's..

And Connor is another guy I am not crazy about. He only has one move in his repertoire. That may get it done in college but not in the Pro's. And he is not fast nor is he big. He really lacks the bulk you look for in a 3-4 LB. And if you lack size you BETTER be very fast, and Connor isn't fast. He will be an average player in the NFL imo. Just average and nothing special.

The truth is, alot of dolphin fans like Connor because he reminds some people of Zach. When the fact of the matter is, Connor isn't nearly as talented as Zach Thomas. Nor will he ever be. They are just different in alot of ways. Connor will disappoint alot of dolphin fans if we pick him because alot of fans will expect another Zach Thomas, and that is very VERY unrealistic.

Lofton weighs 246 and he does much better at taking on and shedding blockers than Conner or Mayo. Yes he's a little shorter than you'd like but he's strong enough to take on the blockers effectively.
