The Many Names Of Joe Robbie Stadium

The announcers also said "Miami, also known as The Magic City" - I don't live there but I certainly have never heard it called that. They said it was for the ability to withstand and come through hurricanes.

HOWEVER,... "From one winter season to the next the City of Miami changed so rapidly that visitors remarked that it had “grown like magic” and Miami came to be know as the “Magic City.”" Nicknamed around 1940ish.

Silly me for not knowing...
Yeah it’s been known as the magic city forever.

I thought Orlando was the magic city because of the basketball team or Disney World. But I've heard Miami called that too, but didn't know why.😕

Also attempts to change Dolphins fight song to Buffett's (Fins to the left, Fins to the right, yadda yadda yadda). One of many ill-conceived ideas by Ross.
Speaking of the fight song, what's the story behind them having the same fight song as the Houston Oilers back in the day? Who had it first? Did this last until the Oilers (I think) moved to Tennessee and became the Titans? Or did the Dolphins bully the Oilers into changing it?

The guy wrote and recorded the song for the Dolphins during the Perfect Season. He sent a copy to the Dolphins and as with many stories involving Joe Robbie, he was cheap. The songwriter was supposedly told by the Dolphins that they weren't in the "music business". Yet, after they won the SB that year, the fans were singing the song when they were getting off the plane at MIA. So the Dolphins either played the fight song at the OB or they leaked it to local radio stations because how else could the fans have known the song?

Anyway, he offered it to Houston with changed lyrics and they paid him for it. NFL Films actually did a short video on the subject.
