I found this interesting, the first professional football team in Miami was the Miami Seahawks, the team was a member of the AFL in 1946 but folded in 1947, then in 1965 the AFL awarded an expansion team to Joe Robbie and that was the birth of the phins. But how would u feel if the Seahawks never folded and we were the Miami Seahawks?

The Miami Seahawks were a professional American football team based in Miami, Florida. They played in the All-America Football Conference for one season, 1946, before folding. They are notable as the first major league sports franchise in Miami and the state of Florida's first professional football team.

I do remember hearing about this. I also think there was something about Ralph Wilson either wanting to buy the Seahawks or create a new team in Miami after the Seahawks folded. He ended up choosing Buffalo instead.

I was always under the impression that the AFL didn't want Ralph Wilson in Miami.

The Miami SeaHawks were part of the AAFC, not the AFL. The AFL was formed in 1960. Actually, if you want get technical, the AFL had 4 incarnations. AFL I(1926), AFL II(1936-1937), AFL III(1940-1941), AFL IV(1960-1967)
The All-America Football Conference (AAFC) was a professional American football league that challenged the established National Football League (NFL) from 1946 to 1949. One of the NFL's most formidable challengers, the AAFC attracted many of the nation's best players, and introduced many lasting innovations to the game. However, the AAFC was ultimately unable to sustain itself in competition with the NFL. Three of its teams were admitted to the NFL: San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Colts (not related to the later NFL team that would play in Baltimore from 1953 through 1983, now the Indianapolis Colts).

You are correct sir. Ralph wanted Miami but for what ever reason they told him no. And then like a year or two later Miami was granted the dolphins.

I'm close to being correct. The city of Miami not the AFL said no to Ralph, but they said yes to Joe Robbie and Danny Thomas.
