The more I think about it (from an x's and o's standpoint) I think keeping Jason would be awesome for our d!! Just think about him at 6"6 and coming from the edge in a true 34 D. He and our new rookies and other linebackers could cause some serious fear in quarterbacks. I am not against trading him but the more I think about it I wouldn't mind seeing him get after it in our new defense!

Nobody ever doubted he is a fantastic player, and he thrived in Saban's 3-4. It was more of a question of getting value for a player.

Now that he is here, sure, our team is better for it.

I think you hit it right on the nose. JT will be a great fit here coming off the edge in a 34 makes it almost impossible to double him and makes him very dangerous off the edge. He had his best season and won defensive player of the year in sabans 3-4. The only reason for the trade talk was his age and the current state of our franchise. If this was 25 year old JT parcells and co. would be foaming at the mouth, no doubt.

i like JT but i think we need to get younger so i think JT should be traded but it seems he will stay one the team this year he could do good things for us

JT is still easily our best pass rusher. Aside from maybe Porter we don't have any other speed rushers coming off the edge. Even the dline kids we drafted don't really provide us with that. I really hope both sides stop being babies and hug this out so that JT can have one of his best years. If we don't get a 1st or multiples including a 2nd than JT's value to us in the short term and the long term in helping to guide and develop our rookies makes him far more valuable to the team.
