..., the more I want to trade out of the 1st rd. I think we should, if possible, just get the best deal possible and continue to accumulate picks. If we could add some additional 2nd rd picks and a 3rd to make up for the one we lost, I think that would be ideal.

It depends on who's there when 14 comes up. I wouldn't want to trade out before the draft and then realize we could have had an elite player.

Trading back always sounds great before a draft. Than a few years later you realize all the elite players you passed up so you could have a an extra serviceable role-player.

I'd be open, but how would we go about it? Madden style where we trade down 6 times and get 6 2nds and 10 3rds?

Or do we need to find one team with two 2nd and 3rd rounders and possibly a player we like in order to get it done. (because 14 is right about where the last blue chip player will be picked)

What I'm asking is, how does one simply trade out of the 1st round?

There has to be a player at 14 that a team really wants and is willing to trade up for. If there's no interest there is no trade. So the questions become, who do you think that player might be? Is it worth us passing on the player to get an extra draft pick(s)? And what team would be willing to trade up for said player?

I don't think we want to trade down to Seattle's pick (31st) and only pick up Seattle's 2nd round or 3rd round pick. And as xXwarXx said (and I've said countless times) when you trade down you're trading quality for quantity like we did in 2010 when we went from 12th to 28th and picked up Jared Odrick and in the process passed on Earl Thomas, Demaryius Thomas and Dez Bryant.

I think the opportunity to trade back will be there, there's 5 "elite" edge pass rushers in the top of the 1st rnd, that's really rare and a lot of teams are going to want in on that. I also think a team could move up for Waynes. Press corners are all the hype right now, and if you need one there almost unaffordable in the open market.

I just don't know why we would want to trade back. Would have to be a pretty sweat deal to sell me on it.

Tannenbaum traded up quite a bit in ny, and most of the time it worked out pretty well for him, so I don't see him trading down. But who knows.

“@AbramsonPBP: Hickey says #Dolphins would ideally like to acquire more draft picks. They have six right now and no 3rd rounder.”

I would trade back down for additional picks, but not trade out of the first round altogether, unless we got a ton of picks in return.

i would love to trade down a bit myself, and acquire more picks. it just matters whom is available at 14 and how the board is going.

14 is a really tough spot to be in the first round this year. i dont like

I disagree -14 is a great spot as there is a drop at around 16-18. That being said, I can see a trade down to mid 20s for an additional 2nd Rder. How about La'el Collins Rd1, Kevin Johnson Rd2, Perriman /Dorsett/Agholor Rd2... 3 immediate starters

I wouldn't mind the Dolphins getting in on that elite edge rusher thing. The problem is, I don't know if many of them fit their scheme.

I've been saying that....target 3 or 4 players for the 20's...pick up an extra day 2 pick....Kendricks, Strong, Gurley, Gordon.........Thats a good stradegy if you get a trade partner.

Pending of course the perfect player falling to 14.

If they think they can get Kendrick's, Gurley, or Gordon in a trade down...they should be all over it. That's in a perfect world though..anything can happen

I think we trade down. that would be in our best interest. We could still land top prospects that fill a need for us. We could land CB, O-line, MLB, or WR somewhere in the 20's and gain an extra 2nd round/3rd round picks. We have so many needs that we could still get a good player that fills a need for us. I really hope we trade down.
