The more you hear Philben speak, the more you have to like this hire

Dlockz you have lost your debbie downer title, it's over.

Finally some of our 'elite' whiner's seem to have turned the corner. I like it... and Philben too.

I like the fact that his son told him to persue the job! Told his dad his deceased brother would want that! Philben is an intellectual guy, and his mannerisms exude confidence. It's going to be a long offseason because I'm sure I speak for most when I can't wait to see this guy pacing the sidelines!

I like fact that he has no ties to any part of the team's recent past. The Green Bay success came eventually from the Bill Walsh leadership.

thats great, plenty of qbs look good in practice who cares.

i have also, along with tons of nfl fans seen flynn play, and he is nothing better than average. obviously philbin understands the qb position better than any nfl fan, but he also may want him slightly due to the relationship he has with him. also, just because philbin wants flynn if he does, that does not mean flynn would come here for nothing. they would still need to pay him big money, money that even the best qbs in the nfl today didnt make until they proved they were worth it, not based on 1 game.

tom brady didnt get a big contract like flynn will want after 1 great performance, u need to earn it, and im sorry, despite everyone hyping because it happened in the last game of the year so thats the last memory of him, does not mean he is good.

i am hoping dan snyder outbids us for him so we do not finish 7-9 8-8 for the next 5 years
the point is that it won't be based on just one game. no one outside of the Packers organization knows more about Flynn than Philbin. if Philbin wants him, you can be sure it's not just a feeling based on limited exposure

seeing that presser it hink assures us he has command over a room of men.

The press conference isnt even 5 minutes in and I admit I like philben even more as I listened to his comments. He seems to have no ego and a good idea of what needs to be done. I tell you listening to Ireland or Ross speak is painful, they should attend a toastmasters meeting soon. I hope Philben brings success to our downtrodden franchise.

love the toastmasters plug!

Here's what I liked in this press conference:

He doesn't just want to run an aggressive offense, he wants the team to be aggressive on defense and special teams. That's something this team has really been lacking for a while, IMO. Our special teams haven't really made an impact for the team (outside of punting) since we lost Mike Westhoff and I'd love to see a defense that actually produces some turnovers.

I get the feeling that he is not a guy who will coach scared or coach not to lose, and that's something to look forward to.

Strongly agree. This is a guy who puts on emphasis on believing his players can get the job done, not one who worries over a mistake they could make. This guy will play to win. While before I was merely optimistic with this hire, I am thrilled to have him now. Can't wait to see Philbin implement his version of Dolphins Football!

Dlockz you have lost your debbie downer title, it's over.

Im a fair guy i dont criticize my team for the sake of it although many have painted me as that guy. We hired a well deserving coach and I hope he does well. he wasnt even my first choice but i did my research from beginning and you have to like the hire. If we had hired McCoy im not sure there would have been actual people allowed in the press conference lol

Press Conferences can give you a great insight on how a coach can transition. Not always, but how a guy handles himself with the media does give a decent outlook. I don't remember specifics from Cam Cameron's introductory press conference, but I do remember the sentiment being that he was rather underwhelming.

Now its not about being overly charismatic, but it is about showing that you have your own plan that you want to implement.

Can this guy command a room of men? You ****ing better believe he can...he won over this entire forum too. Amazing, I haven't seen one bad reaction to this guy. Looks like Ross and Ireland hit a home run on this hire.
