I don't know if Cam is consciously carrying out a recruit LDS(Mormon) player strategy, but I find it interesting that with the draft and UFA's coming in this year, Miami now has 7 Mormons on their roster.

Beck
Denney
Esera
Fifita(NFL Europe Squad)
Mauia
Satele
Soliai

The LDS church is huge amongst the Polynesian communities, and the church has a Polynesian Cultural Center in Hawaii. I remember when I was a little kid and my family converted from Roman Catholic to LDS. We lived in Southern Cal at the time, and I thought it was cool when the bishopric (local parish-like leadership consisting of 4 members) would come in. 2 of the 4 were Poly's, and they would come to church wearing lava lava's, sandals with White short sleeve shirts and ties.)

If this trend continues, in another 3 seasons, they will have to set up a special Miami Dolphins Ward (parish) for the players, their wives and of course all the kids. Now wouldn't that be something. The LDS do not have a paid ministry which means that the lay members are called to leadership positions. Any of the guys on the team could be called to serve as a bishop, elders quorum president, etc etc.

LOL, I could imagine Satele on the side line talking to Beck during a timeout: Hey John, we in the bishopric have prayed about it, and we would like to call you to serve as a teacher in primary teaching the 5 year old class. Oh and tell your wife we would like her to bake cookies for the youth dance this Friday. Bwahaha. :sidelol:

Could we go a day without talking about mormons or samoans please. They are all dolphins now, maybe we can set up a special forum for everyone who wants to talk about mormons or samoans or both to go and share their views. How many dolphins are catholic, jewish, muslim, baptist, european, californian, asian etc...I don't know and don't care. Can they catch a football or knock someone's head off, that is what I'd like to know.

Don't know if you can call it a trend yet. Also don't know what your religion has do to with your football ability. Maybe the maturity thing, but that's like saying those without religion aren't as mature or something along those lines...

i agree, which is why I honestly wondered...

if Cam was consciously aware of his picks or not. Then again it could just be a coincidence given that so many Poly players are LDS, and Cam happens to like Poly players.

Relax...this is how it is when things are slow...

Once camps start again and preseason closes in on us, this board will much more "football-centric" in topic choices.

My God Us The Fans R As Bad As The Team At This Point, Look At The .... That We R Talking About!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Plase People This Is A Sports Page.

I don't think Beck is particularly good at catching the ball or knocking someones head off.

What's the deal with pointing to the sky whenever some of the players do something that he has trained to do for years? I am not trying to be funny, but what are they trying to imply (i.e. that they are God's chosen and he gave them special abilities because they he chose them out from all the others?).

It's somewhat like having great sex with a women and running around and pointing at your d**k when you are done.

Seems somewhat self-aggrandizing to me. Being a religious nutter or having any belief in any god, doesn't make one special or better than everyone else as some tend to believe. Whether it be Mormons, Catholics, or radical Muslims it's a personal belief and in fact could be complete bull****.

Beck actually has pretty soft hands, and can...

catch the ball well. Knocking someones head off is highly doubtful however.

Who cares what Beck's religion is or the other guys who are Mormon on the team? If Beck can play like Steve Young used to I'll be a happy Dolphins fan. He sounds pretty cool in his interviews so far. He just talks a little too fast sometimes. It's like his mind is going 100 mph or something.

If he can keep his cool in the pocket like Tom Brady he ought to be pretty good. He apparently has that "mind speed" that Cam is talking about ... he just needs to balance that out with plenty of that "ice water in the veins" like they say Tom Brady has.
