the most suprising cut!?!?!?

Like most others, my surprise is Gordon (because I thought we would have kept him until RW comes back and then tried to trade him).

Id like to give a big one finger salute to RICK SPIELMAN!

Way to use a 3rd round draft pick!
He had little choice. They needed a back.

He had a BIG choice - like not giving up a 3rd for a 3rd string RB. How about a 6th? Wouldn't have gotten Gordon? Oh well - you better be sure he is a can't miss talent when you give up a 1st day pick. RS traded for 2 3rd stringers in Gordon and Feeley - I'm sorry but if they had enough talent they would at least be backups. Heck - if you can't beat out Ty Detmer then how the heck can you be expected to start in the NFL?

I am amazed Alex Holmes is on the team, yet Lee got cut. I think that goes to show how much Saban dislikes players that cannot cut down their mental errors. Lee is much more talented, just couldn't put it all together.

Uh, no love for Ed Perry? We signed the guy to an extension this offseason. He's been here forever. He's a great long snapper. And he's gone to save 500K. We better not lose any games because John Denney got off a bad snap...

You are overvaluing 2nd & especially 3rd Rd picks. There is a reason players are 3rd Rd picks & its not because they are can't miss prospects.

Dallas cut their 2nd Rd. pick from '04 Guess Parcells should be fired.

Both were. We all know AJ was the true backup to McNabb. He just does not hold for kickers & Detmer does & Akers wanted Detmer to hold for him.

Also Gordon was the backup to Faulk for 2 years & then when Steven Jackson fell to them as Faulks replacement Gordon went to 3rd.

Well, that tells me everything I need to know about what you know about the situations.

Yeap. If Perry ever made a bad snap then I do not recall it.

Has anyone picked him up yet?

I was surpissed to see Bua get cut, as well as Gordon like most of you- I figured we would've tried to get maybe a 6th for Gordon. I was very surprised about Chester too.

Yeah, how could I forget Perry? That one bothers me. LS is such an underrated and under-appreciated position.

you're kidding yourself

Gordon definitely since Saban could have gotten a 5th rd for him. It's like leaving money on the table is game of BlackJack.

Same thing about Lee, 90% of the TE's in the NFL earn a paycheck by blocking Lee excelled at that.

Running backs of Gordon's caliber are currently a dime a dozen, not worthy of a draft pick or the time to shop him. Donald Lee flashed ability as a blocker now and then but made too many drive killing drops and mental errors to return to the field in aqua and orange this year. Also, I wonder if cutting Chester now is a way of keeping him on the burner and maybe circumventing the six weeks he would have to wait on IR on the if/come he could be healthy enough to play in a shorter time frame. Any thoughts on that? I mean he is a manmonster size and strengthwise and he is what 27? I just don't think he is in football shape according to the camp reports which I read on this site and elsewhere.

Maurice Mann Should Have Made The Team

I am really surprised that Holmes made it before Lee. Holmes looked awful in that last game. However, Lee has looked awful all camp long so...

Holmes played real good during the preseason except for the fumble (great defensive play) and one or two drops in the last game which was probably due to the added pressure of coming back from an injury just before cuts. As a tight end he gets open a lot which is important for a team with a poor or hopefully improving offensive line and an adequate QB.

I was hoping that Maurice Mann would make the team instead of Thompson. He got open a lot and caught almost everything thrown his way. Gilmore seems to only get open on the long passes. Unfortunately our QBs always overthrew or underthrew him. Gilmore made it over him because of his special teams play.

I was surprised and disappointed that Eddie Moore made the team. He has done absolutely nothing in the 2-3 years he's been here and that includes preseason games.

I know you're asking for suprising cuts, but I also would like to share my favorite cut. It has to be Taylor Whitley. I can't believe he lasted 2 years w/ Wanny. The only place he belongs in an NFL stadium is carrying the hot dog cart.

Well, he sure wouldn't keep anyone away from the cart. They'd walk right by and help themselves.

Yep, Gordon.

Speilman pretty much threw away a 2nd & 3rd rounder.
