Jets were a year removed from playoffs when Rex got there. They were in the hunt the year before when Favre's shoulder fell off. Rex didn't rebuild ****. The Falcons, similarly, were in the NFC Championship a few years before Mike Smith got there. Mick Vick departure caused the team to implode, but pieces were still there.

On the other hand, the Dolphins were in the freaking TOILET bowl before this crew got here. Frankly, I think this staff did more with less. A better team to compare the Dolphins to is the Lions, who were in a similar position. The job this crew did with the Dolphins is eons better than what they have done with the Lions in the same time span.

GIVE UP THE FREAKING JETS / FALCONS comparisons! They aren't even comparable!

The Falcons finished with the 2nd worst record in the league...Pieces my ***.

The Falcons drafted well and got pieces to help the team. They drafted a franchise QB.

But they are going to the playoffs for the next 5 out of 6 years...We ****ing suck.

I agree on the Jets. Disagree on the Falcons.

But it's not like you cant discount what Rex Ryan has done with the Jets either, especially this off-season. Santonio Holmes, LaDainian Tomlinson, Antonio Cromartie have all been tremendous additions. It's not exactly the same team Mangini had when the Jets were 9-2 with Favre. Sanchez has developed into a decent Quarterback who WINS games. That team is completely different.

Contrast that with the Dolphins. How many holdovers are on this team? Ronnie Brown, Ricky Williams and Yeremiah Bell. THATS IT. Mike Smith and Co. had MUCH more to work with. They changed everything with essentially 3 players: Matt Ryan, Tony Gonzalez, Michael Turner.

What's the next excuse to defend Morono/Ireland/Parcells?

they are all really good friends who get off on field goals, hatin on pimps and drafting useless qbs. so lets keep them so they can pick another qb to get us into field goal range for some madazz fist pumping.

GIVE UP THE FREAKING JETS / FALCONS comparisons! They aren't even comparable!

We were 2 years removed from the playoffs when Rex took over and we had no QB. We had talent to be a playoff team and he took us there. Tannebaum had been drafting well and that has continued for the most part the last 2 years though the '10 draft doesn't look very good right now.

Miami was 1-15 but they had talent, they had alot of injured guys and they had poor coaching. It wasn't a monumental task to turn them around in 2008.

I like how people insist that we were a 1-15 team just 3 years ago! Yes, that IS true, but it's not like we came up with these high hopes all on our own. We were lead to believe they would field a team this year that would compete with the Jets and Patriots for the AFC East. We were delivered a mediocre product.

And yes, that's quite remarkable considering the dump we were left with when Saban bolted, but if we hadn't been told these things we wouldn't expect them. Not to mention some of the boneheaded moves made by our FO that have probably set us back 3 years without even having to hire a new coaching staff. I don't understand how people can defend this failure.

when we go from 1-15 to 11-5, i dont know about anyone else but i expect to be the same at 11-5 or better, not become 7-9, and i damn sure dont expect to be even worse by the 3rd year.

the turnaround is b/c of QB play.;..its that frikin simple.

lmao......this is funny

Michael Jenkins and Jamaal Anderson suck...

The Falcons were going through a complete regime change from top to bottom... not only was the face of their franchise facing prison time, he was also the guy that Blank had signed to MEGA contract.... to top it all of, Petrino didn't even wait until after the season was over to leave like Saban did, Petrino walked out on them with games still left to play to take the Arkansas job... just flat out walked out!

Blank had to get a new GM in there, a complete new front office, hire a head coach, new staff... and figure out what he was going to do at the quarterback position long term...

Vernon Carey, Greg Camarillo, Channing Crowder, Jason Allen, Brandon Fields, Samson Satele, Ginnger, etc... were all holdovers from previous regimes, in addition to players like Ronnie, Ricky, and Yeremiah Bell...

Most of them weren't very good, but at least they were able to ship them off in exchange for more draft picks to blow on Patrick Turners, Pat Whites, etc... Not to mention these morons inherited the #1 overall pick in the draft to boot... and STILL managed to f*ck it up...

Atlanta was in dire straights... the difference is, Miami still is... Atlanta isn't.
