Did anyone watch the NFL Network All Access show tonight?

They were speculating on what would have happened if Brees had signed with Miami instead of the Saints.

They said Chambers, McMichaels and others would have become pro bowl players, including Ted Ginn. Cam Cameron and Saban may never have coached us, or left us. We would have likely gone to a Superbowl, but Ray Finkle would have missed the winning kick.

Yeah, well in the immortal words of Charles Barkley: "If ifs and buts were beers and nuts, we'd have a helluva party."

If we get Brees...it is ****ing over. Brees runs the Offense. Saban had a top 5 D with clowns like Crowder as LBs. We would be perennial contenders. It makes me ****ing yack. This will probably be the biggest blunder for me as a Phin fan.

I remember riding down Ocean Drive in Miami Beach listening to sports radio as the deal went down and we took Culpepper instead of Brees, mainly due to concerns over Brees shoulder. Our team docs must have been looking at the wrong shoulder :)

....not a good day for Fins fans :(

If Brees had become a Dolphin....We would have put him into terrible situations, and used him entirely wrong. We would have forced him into a run first smash mouth game manager, where he would've not succeeded and would've ended up somewhere else after a few seasons of playoffs but first round losses.

Sean Payton brought Brees to another level to be fair. Nick Saban was a defensive minded, conservative HC. Maybe Brees is not who he is if he came to Miami.

Does anyone remember our offensive line that year? I always felt that Brees would have been killed. A lot of people seem to say last year's line was the worst ever, but that line we had the year we lost Brees was even more unbelievable as I remember.

I hope by now we don't have the same medical staff. I remember a few years ago when JT had some sort of leg injury with either the Jets or Redskins that could have been life threatening if not detected and my first thought was "thank God he wasn't with Miami when that happened."

Brees probably would have sucked here and still be somewhere else. We haven;t had a good QB in some time but we've had more problems then that throughout. Our medical staff's ineptitude is probably the best thing to ever happen to Drew Brees.

Which is what makes me so excited about having Bill Lazor. I think he will be able to bring a lot out of Tannehill just by not putting him into bad spots with low probability for success. I mean seriously, last year we had 3rd and long at least every other set of downs. I can't wait to see Tannehill put in a position to succeed.

Don't know. Brees is a heck of a talent but our Fins have not had the best luck in other important areas. Mickey Loomis is a MUCH better GM than Ireland was. Sean Payton is better than Cam Cameron and Tony Sparano. Even Benson is a better owner than Wayne Huizenga and Stephen Ross. Our Dolphins have been a mess of an organization for over a decade now. Passing on Brees for Culpepper was just another in a lot of bad decisions. I HOPE that getting rid of Ireland is a step towards a better team. I am also hopeful that Lazor helps build a better offense.
Anyway, how far would we have gone with Brees? Maybe just missing the playoffs or getting eliminated in the first playoff game. As another poster pointed out, the offense line was not very good...even back then!
