Gotta say, that after the first two picks of James and Landry, I was pretty happy. Then we traded up for Turner, which I thought was odd. Not the fact that we drafted another o lineman, just the fact that we traded up after trading down in round 2.

then, after thinking about what happened, the trades and picks, etc, I thought that the selection of Turner may not be the last o lineman we pick in this years draft.

i was looking at our depth on the online, and I knew it was ordinary. But closer inspection sees the following...Brenner is a backup. Garner is a backup, possibly the best ones we have, Thomas has no experience, Ola is a rookie, Fox although in the league a while is injury riddled and yeatman is a converted TE. Not real good at all.

So, I can see that Miami will probably draft one more o lineman. At least one rookie will start, with smith, Albert, fox, Pouncey and Thomas fighting the other 4 spots. I thought turner was not a great pick initially, but he is probably better than Brenner, yeatman and Ola already, so it kinda makes more sense than what I initially thought.

Bring on day 3.

I can see our line develop into something like this:

LT: Albert
LG: Turner
C: Pouncy
RG: Smith
RT: James

With our new O-line coach I thing this group of players have the chance of becoming a good O-line after some time playing together.

At least Tannehill will see the players who will crush him coming from the right side this season

If anything I see them going the veteran route for depth!

Your post are getting old!

If they plan to slot in Turner at LG, then I am really pleased with the solid, yet mobile nature of the inside - I commented on this before where we need to make sure and match up against Buffalo and the Jets interior DL and with this group, I think there's a good chance of this. Both have an attitude and combined with Pouncey in the middle, I'm looking forward to see them get after people.

Take a flyer on Henderson in 7th

I suspect there's the chance he goes in the 4th - that level of talent is just too good for some teams to not give it a shot and I for one would take the shot

If this isn't a go, I'd definitely have a look see at the Canadian LT Duvernay-Tardif with one of the 5th rounders and let him develop behind Albert/James. He also has the capacity to bulk up on his frame and could get reps inside, I liken him in a way to Turner in movement style - just not as experienced.

I think the ideal hope is the line will eventually be:

LT: Albert
LG: Thomas (Dallas Thomas)
OC: Pouncey
RG: Turner
RT: James

If Miami can move Thomas to LG and just keep him there all offseason . . . he fits perfectly and can be successful. Turner should be slotted as that swing guard/tackle now.

I do think we are likely to see Turner play more of a backup role in year 1 and Shelley Smith man that right guard role. Turner is a guy that plays all 5 spots on the line. Would be great if he's ready to start day 1. James needs to work on this strength and I find it a luxury to have a guy like Jason Fox on this team who can start at RT if he's healthy even though I'm confident that James could step in and start at RT from day one.

It's all shaping up, thats for sure . . . and in a good way.

I'll be surprised if Turner isn't slotted for LG. Doubt this team cares what works best for Dallas Thomas.

Eventually, sure . . . but I'm not going to pretend that we did Dallas Thomas favors by throwing him out there at LT in the preseason and expecting some sort of savior. Dude is a Guard and has the ability to be a succesfful one.

Turner is raw but definitely athletic. He's a guy that has the size and ability to be that 5 position player / #6 lineman on this team to start the season. I think Dallas Thomas surprises everybody and seriously competes for a starting guard spot this year.

If we are going into the season thinking Dallas Thomas is a tackle . . . then yea, I'd fully expect Turner to compete for the starting LG spot.

My bad, I do agree with Turner at LG in the "eventual development" . . . and Thomas at RG if anything.

LT: Albert
LG: Turner
OC: Pouncey
RG: Thomas
RT: James

The future oline.

I see James as the Starter at RT and Turner as the primary backup at RG and RT....although he could start at RG from day 1. The dude is great in the run game and does have really good feet. We are building legitimate O-line depth which is great!

If Jason Fox stays healthy then he is probably the primary back up at RT. He may even start at RT (if he remains healthy).

Turner is not a starter. Not yet. So cross him off the list.

We have 2 starters right now out of this draft. JJ, and Landry.

This doesn't exactly transform the offense, but it's a start. With all the trading back Hickey did, I expected to get more out of the 3rd and 4th rounds. Let's see what we get out of round 4 today.
