The New Offense

The new system was GREAT today. Isn't anybody amazed that other than Moreno, the rest of the skill players had a disappointing day, and yet we still scored 33 points, pretty close to a high water mark for the team of recent years? Its because the system gave us far more opportunity to make plays than we actually executed. On every play there was always somebody open over the middle, Mike Wallace forced the defense to cover deep and cover him over the middle, and who could imagine Dion Sims getting behind a defense? With the way that motion is used and routes are run, there are multiple guys who could catch the ball in stride with room for much more with a good throw, as opposed to 3 yard dump offs. I never knew what to expect, and I'm sure the defense didn't either. We threaten 100 percent of the field, because even on the flats we have plays where a catch and run can and will gash a defense. That not only can create wider windows in the passing game, it softens up the middle for the running game, as a team worried about being outflanked is going to be just that split second more hesitant to cram up the middle.

I watched a lot of Philly last year, so what I saw today and what I am commenting on incorporates some of what I saw last year, but Lazor confirmed today that he will have a lot of the same elements. The only thing I didn't see today was a large amount of read option (I can only remember one actual play, though I probably missed some).

Yaaaawn.. Gimmme a break. So tired of the a**raped and butthurt Tannehaters. Get over it.
Anyways lets not hope our offense is so dominating because if it is he will be gone next year for a HC gig...

It takes more than being a good coordinator to be a good HC and I'm not sure one year of successful OC'ing will net him a job just yet. At any rate, losing an OC doesn't mean you have to reinvent your system, hopefully someone down there is learning the Chip Kelly system like Lazor learned it.

What an amazing thread.....

The offense all improved as the game went on. The Patriots offense got worse as the game went on.....and I'm pretty sure we won.

Do we have some things to clean up...yes. Does Tannehill have some things to clean up...yes, but overall this team played well and showed a lot of heart today. Relax......

Only once last year did we score more than 30 points... we have equaled that this year already.. btw .. everyone said this is the best defense the Patriots have fielded since their last super bowl win. *shrug*

i agree and hope he doesnt leave

I was happy with the win and scoring 33 points. I was just surprised they didn't run much of a hurry up offense like I was expecting them to.

This was his FIRST GAME in a brand new offense, with a brand new o-line lol A lot of ppl on this board panic when there's no need to, it's pretty hilarious. But once the offense starts to execute a little better, we're gonna be seeing a lot more than 25+pts a game. But forreal tho, all these stressed out negative fans need to relax and take a breather (or better, go take a bong hit :p) #phinsup
