Reported at half time by Peter King that the NFL was calling around asking teams to consider putting Sam on their practice squad. I have a feeling they were doing more than just asking. And I've always felt the only reason Sam was drafted was because of intervention by the league.

:snack:

If Sam played the way he did in preseason in a Dolphins uniform and wasn't "out", I'm sure many here would be livid the same way they have for guys like AJ Francis in the past. I'm also sure that if the Dolphins had him and cut him, he'd probably be on Bellichek's roster right now.

He showed the capability of making a play or two on an NFL field, and that is something that many guys on the field in preseason don't have. I'm pretty sure that him being gay right now is working more against him than for him.

he is certainly worthy of being on a practice squad right now. I don't think teams were ignoring him b/c he is gay, I think they didn't want ESPN at their facility every day causing more distractions than they need.

Sucks for him if he didn't earn his way in Dallas just b/c the NFL wants to send a positive message.

I couldn't figure out how they could convince the Rams to take him until vaaark pointed out that the Rams owner owns a big chunk of land in LA. Now I'm trying to figure out what they could have offered Dallas, to host another SuperBowl in the near future perhaps?

the guy clearly belongs on a practice squad at the very least. SL is loaded at DL, he should be on an active roster somewhere w/ a less loaded DL.

The front offices of the NFL are very much like politics that being based on money and "who do you know" factors. I have no doubt there was a lobbying to teams to pick up Michael Sam. Dallas makes sense. It's been reported that Geriatric Jones wanted Manziel I'm sure for none other than selling tickets. He couldn't get Manziel so he just moved onto to the next drama queen, if you will, while also fulfilling favors for Goodell. It's not a conspiracy, it's just that relatively simple.
